Act 5;motivation, am I missing something [spoilers]

So... I just started what I assume to be the final act with all the warnings about progression etc but I have to admit that I'm actually confused as to why I'm doing it.

I am going after the Lord Inquisitor... why? Because he lied to me? Because he used me? He's a Lord Inquisitor; there is precious few people he wouldn't actually use. I am genuinely baffled as to my characters motivations. So far the only tenuous motivation I can see is to find Ulfar's brothers.

Maybe it depends on route you're going?

Aside from my MC's conviction, I've found out he took Yoke - which is a weapon capable of controling about anything - and is on his way right now to obtain it.

I'd say it's about a good enough motivation for my Chaos Champion to embark on a grand case of chase in order to stop him from obtaining an all-powerful weapon that can possibly threathen me and everything I've created so far.

Nono, I found out about that. The Space Wolves were like: "omg he used us". I guess I just didn't think it was a big enough deal. People have been chasing superweapons throughout the setting for ages.

I guess I just took it for granted that it would annoy my MC about the Lord Inquisitor?

Well, I guess that much can be up to role-play?

I mean, my MC would most probably not enjoy being used as bait to distract everyone, attack planet of Chaos just to find out he's being played be an Inquisitor who's been a pain in my ass through the game and he's now on his way to obtain an all-powerful weapon while I'm stuck here.

Aside from that if you actually understand you're fighting Necrons and that all-powerful weapon is in fact a shard of C'Tan. So that's absolutely insanely important stuff.

Heretics are easily motivated to hunt him down. Dealing with the imperial head honcho of the Koronus Expanse paves the road to a nice dynasty of chaos under your rule. Or you just want to get the weapon he's building for yourself.

Iconoclast could see the Lord Inquisitor as a danger to their subjects. Dealing with him would indeed save countless lifes.

Dogmatic, well, you'd just follow his commands blindly anyway. No thinking required.

Honestly, it is one of the weakest parts of our story. We have our domain in shambles and are not given a clear reason as to why we must fight other imperial servants and go after the inquisitor. There is zero real reason for iconoclasts or dogmatics to chase after him, not while we have daemons and dark eldars assailing our own homeworld. We are Rogue Traders, we are here for profit, not to do the inquisition work.

Now heretic, yes, this path is the only one when it is clear why in the world we left our domain.

Follow an lick his boots huh? I followed to kill a traitor, having every faction and every RK backing me up to tear him apart, if your RK is licking his boots, be my guest.
