However, the question of which is better is moot, because the calibrated heavy stubber is better than both, and that's available two rep ranks earlier from the same merchant.
Calibrated heavy stubber has a rate of fire of 12 and can burst for only 1 AP. It's probably the most ridiculous lead-spitter in the whole game.
I theme Argenta around bolter.
Me, the solid lead spitter, is the guy holding 2 pistols and the heavy stubber.
Because before them - low recoil is THE king and not huge rate of fire. For example - M40 autogun you're getting from Fidelio questline is >>> heavy bolter & stormbolter early.
P.S. And once you have anti-recoil items - strongest option is calibrated heavy stubber (or xenos guns) anyway.
the stubber is solid and it's expert talent gives +2 to MINIMUM DAMAGE
the bolter expertise is an additional 10% armor penetration.
I do think there needs an explaination for recoil stats, but basically recoil means more accuracy right?
Concentrated Fire, Bolter Spec, Rapid Fire (w/ Unfaltering Fire) and other skills like Revel In Slaughter, Devastating Attack, combined with talents for heavy weapons (Heavy Gunner, Broad Expertise, Rack & Ruin, Muzzle Velocity, Fired Up, Overpower, Breaking Point.
Late game you can get an improved Heavy Bolter (which adds +1 to ROF for every kill), and the Exemplar skills Cataclysm (+3% damage for every new enemy hit) and in particular, Extermination (which is brutally broken by burst weapons skill giving you +1 damage for every ATTACK you make). The stubber can't compare.
You can get equipment:
* Blessed Bolter Case makes her ultimate disgustingly powerful, shooting at least 8 auto hitting heavy bolter shots you can clear the board of low health enemies or put a huge amount of damage into a single enemy.
* Long Range Aim Lens (range attack distance increase, which increases hit chances and turns the heavy bolter into a sniper rifle with the blessed bolter case)
* Gunslinger's Helmet (significantly increases damage)
* Tactical Backpack (adds 1 more shot to the heavy bolter, it's a reputation item)
* Recoil Warboots.
There's multiple gloves that can do some incredible good things, like the Heavy Lifters which if you leave your character in place they get +50% damage on the next turn, bullet hell gloves which add another 1 to the ROF and inflict perplexed on enemies on kills, sniper gloves for +5% damage, crit chance, stab bracers which improve BS and add more crit damage.
The best one is probably the Compensator Gloves, which lets you ignore recoil while bursting, and increases the ROF massively
Set her up right and she can walk in front of the hardest target in a combat and pour 16 to 20 shots right into their face, then follow up with an ultimate of 10 more single shots that auto-hit.
EDIT: If that's true I might as well just repec Argenta for the stubber, just one more perk for solid damage and pair her up with the shotguns.
There are also gloves that negate recoil entirely, but those are an extremely late game item (second last tier from one of the factions, probably not an item most people will ever actually get).
Basically all shots besides first get max hit chance equal to MIN(your BS, 95) - Recoil.
Does crit automatically penetrate all armor, or?
