Burning out
119.7 hours into Rogue trader. I'm burning out on it.

Owlcat games are too long. Not that there's anything wrong with a long narrative, the problem is Owlcat games start losing the sense of progression and discovery about 2/3rds of the way in. No new abilities to work towards, item upgrades are small, I'm just trying to push through the story cuz the progression is no longer engaging.

However there's still A LOT of story left, which starts making the game a slog. And now we're here.

I had a feeling Exemplar wasn't going to be good when I started up the game, and here we are. All of the Exemplar talents are pretty mid, none of them have Psykers or Navigator in mind, and there's no new abilities in exemplar. It's just bigger numbers or niche benefits.

I had the same problem with Wrath of the Righteous. Combat isn't a challenge, but it's long. I just killed Doomscream and now I'm fighting Uralon. I'm tired of being unable to ambush enemies, I'm tired of at least half of my party going last in initiative, I'm tired of using the same tactics I was using 50 hours ago because nothing new has been introduced in that long.

The game is just so big with so much story and so many interesting plot points, but the gameplay content is barebones. No force sword that I can use to cast chain lightning, or bolters that are force weapons. Xeno gear doesn't feel any different from human gear. No element imbued bullets or explosive lasers. A good amount of the companions can only use specialized equipment, and the equipment is SPARSE.
