HOWEVER, you still cannot respec your origin (eg Death World, Sanctioned Psyker). It only goes as far as your Archetype.
This, In order to change origin/homeworld you have to manually edit out and in origin and homeworld traits (The UI will still show the original homeworld too in character screen). Which is buggy or when I was doing so for testing something quick, it didn't assure all abilities worked correctly. There was a lot of garbage remaining that was hard to clean (like skill advancements).
Technically if she was a soldier she be a better burster then Argenta so Owlcat made her an officer. But literally the worst officer ever. Her heroics are garbage and worst officer talents.
If it was a high fantasy game Jae would be rogue dual wielder doing crazy damage. Instead she is a busted support character.
But I enjoyed her as companion her story her quests her dialogue I liked. Her build is one of the worst companion builds EVER in any RPG ever.
I would just bring any companion you like an Respec them. There builds don't matter for story at all. No idea why Owlcat locks them.
I only respecced Jae cause my mc wasn't an officer and bringing a Merc isn't fun.
But again if you build her from scratch her skill tests are much much higher.
Her default build is fail on so many levels
To add onto this, as someone who was really underwhelmed with crime lord and regretted it after 10 hours and ended up spending some time switching origin and home world, you will probably have to do some trial and error at first. There are sometimes multiple variants of a talent/feature. As an example if you just look for "Forge world" to swap your home world you will find multiple versions, some of which are named almost the same. from what I found most of these are for the NPCs.
What I would recommend is making a new game with the home world and origin you want, probably saving it for reference, and then use Toybox to inspect what talents were added by the origin. Note those exact ones down, probably by taking a screenshot, and then load up your main save (Back it up/make a new save) and then make your edit. Check and see that you have access to everything you wanted and you should be mostly GTG. I can't confirm if this changes reactivity from NPCs or anything, nor have I found where you can change the name of your home world and origin that shows on the Character screen, but all the bonuses and talents work and show properly.
To give a specific example:
Say you want to swap to a Forge World so you can get the talent that lets you use INT for social skills and you want the Locomotion System for the extra MP. What you want to add under Features is (Naming schema is Name: Internal Name):
Forge World: ForgeWorld_Homeworld_Feature
Locomotion System: ForgeWorld_ForgedForPurpose_LocomotionSystem_Feature
When searching for Forgeworld though you will also see:
Forge World: ForgeWorld_Homeworld_Feature - difference is there is no description.
Forge World - Locomotion Augments: ForgeWorld_LocomotionSystem_Homeworld - As far as I can tell this does nothing for the player, likley for NPCs.
Origins are even worse, but I don't have time to get into that at the moment.
So yea, be careful and double check stuff. Confirm that bonuses/Abilities get added and seem to work properly. it was a chore, but I was much happier with my character.
1. Open Toybox.
2. Go to 'Party' tab.
3. Click 'Features' for character you want to edit.
4. Use search box to find archetype
5. Click Remove.
6. Done!
I did a Crime-Lord + Soldier/Arch-Militant build and was happy with it.
