I mean seriously?
Is this what it has come down to in CRPG's or not if you can or cant romance someone ! It feels like so many discussions is about this topic and in BG3 it was almost exclusivly the posts with the most reply's , the most ugly toxic and terrible ones .

It feels this thing has completly been blown out of proportion. In my RL tapletop games , been playing for 30+ years no one is romancing anyone , not even NPC's or atleast its very rare . Why is this ? Because it's awkward ?
Nah I highly doubt sex and relationships is like that for a group of middle aged persons with families . For me It's just not interessting gameplay , to see if I can sleep with Argenta or not.
If love happens It happens !
Yes I know It's been a thing for a long time in CRPG's and I agree there should be a couple of romancing options if these characthers are openly single and is looking for love .

But it's totally unrealistic to think that every adventure party consist of 10 singles all ready to date and have sex . I think developers could just tone this down , we are here to play in interessting worlds , sure a little exotic sex and a special relationship can spice up the story but I think it should be atleast rare when it happens .

I do, but you asked my reasons as a player, not the specific reason of any of my characters. In fact, unless I've been misinterpreting you, you seemed pretty clear you weren't going to accept any in-character reasoning.

Probably because my own characters aren't actually interested in romancing her? None of the ones I've made for the game. I mean I could potentially imagine Ismail courting her because he finds the idea of courting a fellow warrior to be bracing, but I imagined him being more likely to get together with Jae if anyone, to be honest, if only because Ismail swings Iconoclastic pretty hard - I took a lot of inspiration from Captain Nemo when thinking of the kind of character Ismail was going to become, and Nemo's hatred of the British is legendary.

You kept sarcastically saying 'sure, you don't have a horse in this race,' but I actually kinda don't. My involvement in this discussion was mostly on principle.

I probably avoided making such a character specifically because I've been in the RT Discord and knew that they weren't going to make romancing her an option from the get-go, but sure:

Imagine someone who was drawn to her from the moment they showed compassion for the orphans left behind by the attack on the ship, and was comforted by the fact she was already a warrior, so he didn't ever have to worry about standing in front of her? Someone who could find in her an equal, and so desired to take a chance on spending their life with her? Could easily happen, particularly in the case of an Astra Militarum Commander particular, or a particularly bloody-minded Naval Officer maybe.

Like, in the course of playing a game, you're going to come up with in-character reasons why your character does what they do. I'm really curious why you needed an example of "good reason" to romance her to begin with.

As you pointed out: The characters don't actually exist. Their decisions are made by their authors. Or in this case, possibly GW, or some other actor we don't know about, since as has been pointed out in other threads, Argenta was actually planned to BE a romance option, or at least, the reason she wasn't was not due to the author's vision for the character or budget restraints.

That you think that romance existing in videogames for adults is "full on Slaanesh" is just kinda stupid.
