Unable to get actual game to start

Bought this game this afternoon, got it downloaded, started it up, got through character generation, onto a loading screen..... and nothing. It got to 100% and jammed. Nothing happened.

Tried again, nothing happened.

Basic game, no mods, freshly downloaded, no idea.

I looked on the "known issues" and found some other folks with similar problem, found solution of:

1) The game's loading bar is stuck or there's a black screen after launching the game.

Solved by refreshing the cache.

Done by deleting all files except saved games, portraits and screenshots from the following folder: C:\Users\ <username>\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader

Did so.

Made no difference.

Suggestions?

What's supposed to happen at 100% on the loading bar when you start the game? Does it take about 5 minutes the first time or something? Or is there a button not coming up for me...?

having the same issue on a brand new alienware m18, that exceeds the specs, running win 11, DX 12. doing an un/reinstall ATM...

for me it gets to 40% load bar then prompts “controller or M&B” i use controller so i hit a button and wait for the rest of the load bar. then takes about 10-20sec after %100 to hit another button on controller then wait for game.

so its a crappy console port, that they didn't bother to test on the PC before selling it?

well, its obviously looking for a proprietary console controller that PC users don't typically have, that's a pretty novice mistake, which should have shown up during proper play testing.

Yeah, i cant imagine why anyone in a thread about a software bug would want to check a possible solution for that bug?

after a complete reinstall, I set the options to exclusive full screen. this time after loading to 100% the green radar in the lower right displayed "click any key", I hit the space bar, and it launched

Having reinstalled, set to "exclusive full screen", lowered the resolution and the graphics to low..... and waited a little longer at the loading screen....

...game starts and runs smoothly.
