Yeah thing is there's several 'sets' of pieces you can give him. Think it's 3 lots (if you forgave your eldar companion before you spoke to him she offers to let him experiment on her which is a 'free' part as it doesn't seem to have any lasting issues according to online stuff). Plus keep asking (politely of you die) for a reward and point out how weak and worthless humans/imperials are and of no use to him. After the last arena fight you should then be able to ask about the space marine and as for him. The most annoying part to get is from the scourge. It's the thing that looks like a goth eldar skyhawk (Guy with wings who leaves body piles). Need to keep wandering the chasm till you've seen him 3 times. Last one you get the stuff for yent from him. Not sure if that can be done before you've done the last arena fight.
FYI must be done before the last area fight. In Yent's Palace of tickles you can trigger the ability to recruit the Dark eldar Maz*something or other* as a companion. Talk to him and offer him a truce. Do so again at the start of the last areana fight and he'll turn traitor on the dark eldar and be a companion.
That's how I did it last night. Litearlly finished my night's gaming after getting him. Word of warning, people say he's a bit underwhelming so don't get your hopes up on him being the 1 man army spacies are in the '40k universe'
Speaking of him, am I the only one with a very bugged version of the guy?
90% of the time he doesn't kneel when down for the first time and start recovering, he just stand there which can be very confusion when you try to target him and the game just doesn't give you anyfeedback as to why the action doesn't work.
His bolt pistol can't be shot in mele (like a 2H ranged weapon) for some reason, which makes his mele awful, and his knife doesn't trigger its AP and attack refresh on kill.
His charge also doesn't work properly, he just run toward the target and don't attack.
You need 4 for the quest, 2 for items he sells, 1 for Ulfar and 2 for removing debuffs from companions (though atleast for me I only needed 1 and it healed both companions. Probably a bug) and there are a total of 8 items and Yrliet (or her soul stone) you can pay him with.
edit:not actually sure about needing 2 to remove the debuffs since that depends on who you bring along with you to act 3
To recruit Ulfar you need to talk to him without angering him and then pay 1 part and ask for his freedom from the haemunculus. Like with his other dialogue, you must appeal to his ego instead of antagonizing with him or trying to be pragmatic
If you don't do that Ulfar will fight with you at a later stage of the game and you can recruit him there.
The point is having him on the party make the area and some encounters a tad easier.
The fast way to recruit him is by killing the Elf girl, and trading her jewel for the space marine.
1st time you meet him act cautius, dont have to beg for cure for him, dont have to pass check to cure you or serve him
he will ask you to win arena round 2 for him, do it
up ahead you will see marazhai, ask him to join you (considering you pass the trial check and humiliate him) by stating that hes trapped and both of you can use each other
in arena marazhai will deflect with you if you succeed
back to tervantes, you should have some graft reward from exploring around, this is what you need to initiate trade with him, have minimal 2 (some graft is also used for his creature quest, so search around, your first medicae check on some dude should get you a graft, there also dialog to kill wreck for another graft profit)
talk to him, he will say you ruined his plan and hes escaping, dont forget to turn your hunting creature quest here. if you already passed check to save your party member you can talk to him to release other since hes escaping
ask him to provide you help, he will ask yrilet, refuse
ask him to provide help again he will take your graft and there multiple option to choose
get the take his creature for help you and release ulfar option
well that is my experience talking to him, pretty sure someone will set a good guide for him eventually, but dont forget to save each part comrade and hope you succeed
You...do understand that you get the same bonuses on any arch-militant, right? Heinrix & Argenta are both tankier than him. Heinrix because you can stack up his parry with equipment and spam Shield of the Emperor, Argenta because of dodge & cover.
Ulfric is simply not a Space Marine. If you want to know how an appropriate Space Marine looks - Chapter 1 boss. An unstoppable juggernaut who slaps so hard, butts 2 planets away jiggle.
Ulfric is just a scuffed, normal unit that gets limited equipment and barely anything to show for it.
And as much as I love Bolter B!tches, they shouldn't have 10x the firepower of a Space Marine.
Is there something you have to do earlier in the chapter to ensure he shows up? As chapter 3 starts and you have the convo with the Inquisitor, I say I want him back in my retinue but he doesn't show up on the bridge or back at your palace anywhere after that conversation. There something else that has to be done in that period to get him?
