anyone else think ship combat is great?
i prsonally love that owlcat try and add a secondary gameplay element. they are big thinkers much like nier automata had all its game modes. like flying or hacking

its pretty good. i actually enjoy the side game in this one. i hated it in pathfinder. so yeah its a nice mix up and it can actually be pretty hard unlike the normal combat which is mostly very easy because of op builds.

My main gripe is that you are stuck in a frigate , I’d have liked to recover and make a cruiser my flag ship

Wrapping up first playthrough on normal, and I like it. Don't know if Daring+ changes that, but we'll find out. Would be cool to have it expanded upon, though.

I'm also very fond of it - I wish we had more ship battles or even fleets. A built-in Gothic Armada so to speak. :lunar2019smilingpig:

WE NEED TO OWN SHIPYARDS AND BUILD BIGGER SHIPS! DAMN THIS FRIGATE!

Played chapters 1 through 3 so far on Daring, ship combat felt nice, if little bit easy at times.

No it's awful and boring and most fights involve a great deal of cheese

Even fully leveled and all gold ship gear you literally won't be able to take on any of the mandatory ship combats head in head exchanging blows. Even with your stupid tugboat.

The act 4 battle it's nearly 400 HP they hit insanely hard and launch 4 bomber squadrons every turn.

Even max to hit and you won't kill 1 bomber squadrons with weapons except torpedoes.

So you can't go toe to toe or even out maneuver them.

What you can do is let them chase you launching 3 sets of torpedoes every turn until the big ship explodes.

Not sure how that is fun. It is extremely cheesey.

So yeah ship combat sorry wasn't needed.

I enjoyed it very much, up until the point where you encounter the Drukhari. You have no way of knowing how many enemies you are going to face, and usually they go first, and after their turn I have like 20 hp left. They hit very very hard.

I do enjoy ship combat but I'd really appreciate a balance overhaul....

That's depend of do you like torpedoes or not? If you don't - then ship combat is awful as it designed all about abusing torps as much as you could.

My main gripe is the board layout itself. You cannot fly above or below an enemy ship. Obviously you cannot ram enemies from above or below either. And drifting asteroids on the battlefield all miraclously miss any and all ships on the board. No environmental space hazard dangers at all.

Not having a "hamburger grid" with multiple layers was a massive missed opportunity for voidship combat.

Because they actually not exist in at least somewhat realistic space? :) Asteroid field dense enough to be a danger for powered ship are going to grind themselves pretty fast after being created.

I think it starts out too difficult. Not impossible, but really hard. Eventually your abilities can start making the difference, but... It does feel good to win though haha.

Doesn't stop them from showing up and flying harmlessly above the board. It is objectively a missed opportunity.

There are some quality of life improvements i wish for, like showing your weapon reach while hovering over a field where you might want to place your ship or enemy weapon range when hovering with your mouse over their ship, And yeah, having just the small frigate sucks

It's a job for our PD turrets. Yes, they are exist in WH40k Navy even if game don't simulate them.
