Which makes zero sense as there is entirely no indication of that and it can literally be (as it is for me) my first encounter outside of footfall. LMAO, owlcat please learn to stop doing this. It's a really annoying tendency you have for developing OP fights early on
Also, for anyone defending this, just because it's doable doesn't mean it isn't REALLY annoying regardless. Like, if you can't design a good encounter without HP buffing all the trash enemies to hell then we have serious problems. Also, if you CAN design a good encounter, why default to HP buffing the hell out of trash mobs which is cheap AF
I mean, no? Just balance the encounter appropriately so that it's fun and not a giant slog of a pain in the ass the first time. IDK who played this fight and thought "wow, massive constant HP buffs to all the enemy mobs - who only do like 5-10 damage if they even hit but also renders them hard to kill - is cool!"
Edit: and for the record, minus all the bugs people are experiencing I'm having a lot of fun with the game. Part of the reason I even bother to complain is because stuff like this is nonsensical and relatively obvious flag for questionable design but it just gets pushed through anyways for some reason
No, it's a cool encounter. I, personally, refuse to back down and let owlcat fail to acknowledge this weird design. It's not a "difficulty spike" it's very easily the most tedious fight up to now
Even the chaos space marine boss, while somewhat lengthy, was cool because thematically it makes sense. Those guys are walking tanks, after all, but this is just "chaos sorcery" and poof these no-name enemies are now walking tanks (minus the weaponry)
But, even putting the difficulty spike coming fresh out of Footfall aside, they feel a bit more janky than nearly anything else in the whole act. And it'd be one thing if it was just a set of very difficult fights doing a check on the player, but there's a lot about it that ends up being awkward. Plus the fact that the combat encounters take place so deep into exploration make deciding to come back later more complicated than other games that put in a similar high level check.
Yeah, there's other stuff that needs fixing but I don't think that makes it ok to throw stuff like this on the backburner. Especially since encounters like this keep happening in all their games. It would be one thing if it was maybe one or two every other game, but it consistently happens across all their titles and, IIRC, multiple times each game
If they want to actually make a name, that's not synonymous with questionable releases with massive game-breaking bugs, then they need to start taking steps to resolve these issues sooner rather than later. Granted, I will admit each game has generally been in a better state than the previous - so maybe more stability, faster patches, etc.... It's more than a little ridiculous that nobody ever happened to notice how weird this fight is in comparison to pretty much all the others so far - not really due to the mechanics but by the design of the developers
It's also entirely possible to clear the encounters without officer cheese, even without killing any or all of the "speakers".
Bro, the encounter is balanced fine, stop projecting your bad skills on the way these particular fights are designed. Up until this point I still didn't use meta builds or officer cheese and had little issues clearing the fights. If you actually have remotely decently spec'd characters you'll have no issues gunning down the adds even without killing any or all of the "speakers". Even the helbrute fight was fine with non meta builds. I wonder if you just went there way too early and decided to come to the forums to complain about it. Seems to be the thing with this game; people turn their lack of skill and comprehension into some kind of odd indication Owlcat screwed up. The level for the area is about 20; if you're 20 you'll have no issues at all.
