Navigator event with Cassia on Dragonus (Chapter 2, Spoilers)

Currently in the middle of chapter 2, after Dragonus, I was contacted by House Orsillio (Cassia's House) to meet.

I met with them, events unfolded (don't want to spoiler).

The outcome (spoilers ahead):

I heard both sided and decided to pardon the lady who tried to kill Cassia, and give Cassia to her (assuming she'd kill her like she intended).

Sidenote: I really don't like Cassia, her background, the way you recruit her or the idea of taking her along in the party. I think her story is a complete mess.

Next cutscene the other Navigators get executed (not the lady something but the guy who wanted to preserve Cassia).

Next thing I read (in the quest log) is to talk to Cassia on the bridge of my ship.

WTF?

I mean I gave her over to the lady who wanted to kill her. Why is this brat still alive?

You don't even need her it seems because you can kick her off the ship....

maybe talk to her on a bridge and she'll explain?

she's now head honcho of the navigator house and wants to do things differently (i.e not like her predecessor).
Why she is still alive - no idea....

Interesting, I wouldn't know about that because I've been romancing her which gives different outcomes it seems. However, based on the story I've learned from romancing her, I can assume why this is an outcome. I think you need to romance her to get a good plot, because a lot of her story is locked away behind the romance, or at least based on the options I've had to progress events, they have always been romance required.
