So far the pistols I have found this to be case are
- Astartes bolt pistol
- Elite Blaster Pistol
- Disinigration Blaster pistol
- Blaster pistol.
I could nto shoot these in melee but when i got the close quarters fighting perk that lets you shoot 2h weapons in close combat, they worked.
the issue is that some weapons are being treated as "non-pistol" even though they are pistols.
I even found a shotgun that says it's two handed despite the fact it has a 1h icon and even says it's a shotgun "pistol" like the foehammer shotgun pistol
This. You can read it ingame: press L => Tutorial => Attack of Opportunity.
Rest are questionable
Pistols are supposed to be paired with swords, and pay for being usable at melee range with having much lower damage and penetration values than the 2-handed correspondent weapons.
Shotguns are very close quarters weapons. If you could not use them at melee range, they would be essentially useless.
