pathfinder ruined me. Too fe classes?
is it just me or there are too few classes?
We have a total of 12, but that is only from lvl 16+

Up until then, you have 4 classes for 6 party members (true psyker adds some more variation), meaning you're bound to have 2 or more members with the same abilities.

I'm used to BG3 and Pathfinders where usually you tend to avoid having 2 charactrs with the same class in your party but here....

I don't know...is the table top game the same? Are you supposed to have multiple people qith the same abilities but maybe different talents?

Maybe you're right, still coming from a gazillion classes ( i don't think any1 really made a count on the possibilities WOTR gives you, so i'll go with infiinite) to 12 was a big shock

I started with Officer and i got Cassia. So i have 2 officers with the same exact abilities, but i guess it will change the more I level up and get Cassia Navigator powers or my own Telepath Psyker abilities

Still.........infinite to 12 was....harsh
I've found build variety, even within the same class is fairly divergent and distinct. I actually like this.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciated the sheer scale of diverse classes in WotR but I tended to focus on only a few. Many didn't appeal to me all that much.

I like both approaches Owlcat have taken.

You're still thinking your archtype is the only thing affecting your "class". You are not an Officer. You are an Imperial World Sanctioned Psyker Officer, or a Forge World Astra Militarum Officer, or whatever combo you choose.
That's on top of being able to build them differently. A sniper soldier and a heavy bolter soldier will take/have different abilities as they level

True in a sense but.....most origins, only give different stats buffs, not much else.

While in WOTR every level could be a different class with different abilities, like lvl1 Mage, Lvl2 warrior, lvl 3 Cavalier, level 4whatever...makes nos ens but...it was there :)

Not saying this approach is bad....it's just that going from....you level up...open a door to infinite possibilities to...you level up...get 5 pts in a stats, or get a talent, half of which are skill boosts was kinda a shock
Less classes than the useless bloat Pathfinder has is a good thing, for me at least. Having "infinite" classes is an illusion of choice when, first off, you aren't going to play them all and, secondly, so many of them are marginally different subclasses from another subclass anyways.

Tabletop rules differ here. The digital game is more akin to the second edition of dark heresy to the original verison of rogue trader.

The pnp version of RT had 8 careers for humans: Rogue trader ( resembles officer and strategist), seneschal (kind of the tactician), navigator (pretty much cassia), astropath transcendant (telepath-diviner psyker, like idira), explorator (operative with tech-priest talents), arch-militant, void-master (ship pilot) and missionary (warrior priest).
Then you have 7 non human careers : kroot mercenary, ork freebooter, ork wierdboy (ork psyker), kabalite warrior (eldar warrior), wych (eldar psyker), Tau fire warrior.

There are advanced careers but the main stuff are the base careers that have 8 ranks

The thing is that it's not a level based game and the classes are very free. You can buy pretty much what ability you want, when you want, as long as you can pay the xp cost for it and you have the rank (each ability has a required rank and to upgrade your current rank you need to spend enough xp by buying abilites of the previous ranks).

In dark heresy 2e, the system changed (rogue trader is using dark heresy 1e rules). There are no careers anymore, your character is a combination of a home world, an origin faction and a role. There are no ranks anymore either, and the system is even more free, letting you mix and match any ability as long as you meet the requirements and can pay the xp cost.

The digital game is kind of using the rules of the second edition, since we have the world/origin/archetype style, but is still locking stuff behind levels which is kind of like ranks, but not really.

So PnP Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy are basically like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th edition (in case your familiar with it)?

Yes, the base is the warhammer roleplay system.
