Smuggler Hideout
Is there some conclusion to this planet location? I disarmed the traps and fought the fight but I failed some Xenos test which probably was just flavor ??? I dont feel like I met the guy talking to me from the loudspeakers and one door stays closed.

Is this location meant just to introduce other WH races or is there something special here?

same as I did, killed some Necrons, found some items, but don't know how to meet the talking dude. BTW I didnt touch that book.

The talking dude is already dead, you can find his body and the artifact that made him loose his mind inside the small balcony room in the south-west corner of the level.

What happened isthat at some point the smugglers received cargo from a xeno peddler, one of the items was a meteorite shard that created illusions and played with the mind.
The boss smuggler started to see priceless cargo that didn't exist, and didn't see xeno cargo that did exist, sending most of his crew to their death by handling the unknown items incorrectly
.

He then completely lost his mind, imagining that the xeno peddler was the cause of his torment, but most likely all that mess was the end result of dumb cold traders up to their necks in dangerous xeno artifacts, killing themselves because they forgot that everything xeno must be purged with prometheum, not traded like candy.

Thank you. I think I missed the artifact somehow. I found a golden frog there though which meaning eludes me but its an achievement :)

I also burned the book without opening it.

Yeah you didn't miss much, couple of hard dice rolls, and you could have obtained a protection bubble buff lasting only 30 rounds, which is utterly useless because the book is placed at the end of the level, so most if not all the traps are either already dismantled or have exploded.
But yep the book was warp shenanigans ;)

Sorry, but where can I find this quest? Looks like I missed something.

Does the rumor ends after you clear the Smuggler's hideout? Because for me it didn't.

The frog is probably a homage to Titan Quest (the DLC really), where the endboss can sometimes drop a golden frog that opens a special door.

Or because it is the first time you fight necrons in the game an homage to the enemies of the necrons in the War in Heaven , the Old Ones.

Someone seems to have attacked with bolters at the end - I thought it might be a Deathwatch raid.

The golden frog is actually just a running gag in all of Owlcat's games. You can find it in Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous.

Bump for cool lore.

And this is why you don't do xeno trade, gents.
