How to build pascal?
He seems really weak.

Im at level 20, and he is... not what I expected of a tech priest.

I wanted to do a lore-accurate close combat monster, but so far its not working out, he is weakest member of my team. He can have a plasma gun, shoot for like 30 damage....great, great.... meanwhile Cassia can spam magic and do like a 1000 damage per turn with officers around her....but that 30 damage plasma shot, very good....

And axe attack. can be mean, can hit for 40-50 damage... But only once per turn. And then pascal gets shot and dies. Or gets swarmed and dies. And even if you pump his weapon skill, he gets parried quite often. And enemies have 150+ hp.

No matter what, pascal works out to be a buffer / debuffer, and for his crazy high tech use and logic skills. Is that all he can be? A backline support, healer?

He certainly cant go 1 v 1 with anything serious.

Or can he?

Or can he, but only with serious buffs and debuffs, being click-intensive and annoying?

There are actually a ton of ways you can build him. You can make him ranged, melee, or hybrid, with varying weapons in that.

Example- Give him a plasma gun, set him as a medium ranged damage dealer with the ability to easy defend himself in melee.

focus on Melee, use his unique talents to boost his axe damage (to crazy levels)

Or hybrid, Give him a plasma pistol, dual wielder, and laugh as you axe and blast your way through things.

I made him a ranged assassin with plasma gun. He has a tonn of upgrades for plasma as a Forge world origin charcter.

I’d very much like to see the perk choices other commenters are using, as I’ve also noticed that Pasqal doesn’t really do a lot of dmg. Granted I specced him into grand strategist, which might have something to do with it, but I still feel that even with investment into plasma-boosting perks he’s still kind of underwhelming more often than not.

My Pasqal wrecks faces and supports the team most excellently as a melee assassin. Tactical Knowledge (Exploits into armor for the whole team, and damage for Pasqal) is key to making him (and everyone else) quite sturdy. Add on Offensive Pattern Prediction and he's taking Int bonus x 3% less damage from any enemy with an Exploit on them, which goes a long way to compensate for his original squish.

Pinnacle of Weaponry from his Forge World origin works just as well with a power axe as it does a plasma gun. Improved Tactics and Skirmish Protocols further augment his damage. Acceleration Protocols turn him into The Flash for zipping around and pinning ranged enemies and/or hitting openings from Assassin.

Dual Wield for two two-handed weapon attacks per turn on top of all the tools from assassin. He is a wrecking crew.

i gave him a multimelta and while he doesn't exactly break the bank, he can do a lot of dmg at close range while also parrying with his axe. he's a bounty hunter with withdrawl as well, so he can mostly stay to apply a lot of close in aoe dmg.

He can make over half of total skill checks. You don't need to build him any other way.

Yes thats the unique thing about pascal, he holds a 2hander in one hand and if you take the dual wielding talent he can use both in the same turn (usual restriction on rifles not being able to be fired in melee apply)

Pascal currently is even stronger than Cassia because of a broken Talent interaction. He has a Talent which gives him +1 AP after shooting Plasma or Melta, it is called Filtering Protocol if i remember correctly. Then simply use the Officer Heroic which removes the attack limit and you can spam as many Plasma or Melta Single shots as you have ammo and use your AP only to reload. To boost it even further equip the trinket which reduces reload cost.

pascal can equip 2 two handed weapons. he is actually rather strong

Works VERY well on him: save 3 AP, do melee, shoot plasma, regain 1 AP from using plasma = you'd done 2 attack per 2 AP :)

Neat. Too bad you'll be contending with like a 30% hit chance to do negligible damage, but infinite attacks are nice. Well not infinite, but it's still a lot.

Start him off with the sniper rifles which come with +30% hit until his ballistic skill gets higher.
