Be Smart. Or how I learned to love INT builds.
I'l start saying I played for q lot of hours kinda flabergasted about how INT is basically not useful for combat but require for important skill tests, and while I did level it and used it as a bonus dmg stat on Pasqal with Pinnacle of Weaponry, but not investing in PER makes his exploits lackluster.

Thinking about that I recently started a heretic run and Be Smart is just so good I feel like sharing it.

My character is an officer/Biomancer psyker and Be Smart allows me to completely dump Fellowship, much like you can do with Cassia due to her unique navigator talent that giver FEL from WP.

That basically means this officer/biomancer doesn't need to be bad with weapons, and having the ability to be the most OP base class, being a psyker and still shoot well just makes it a pleasure to play.

Another good use would be in a Operator build if you go Grand Strategist because a lof of the abilities they have are based in INT+FEL, meaning you just use 2xINT instead, at least in theory (I still didn't test it, but will do soon).

So, do you guys like this too or am I just in the honeymoon phase?

Cyas!

You will need another FEL character to roll Persuasion / Coersion?

Nope, I'll use Cassia, she can increase her FEL based on Will because of a navigator ability!

I'm running Operator/Bounty Hunter with int and BS as my highest characteristics. It's working out well, not as high of damage as Argenta with a heavy bolter but good enough single target damage for a skill monkey.

The Forge World origin is huge for int focus, getting all face skills based on int is great, as is the boost to plasma and melta damage. With Pinnacle of Weaponry and improved tactics for Tactical Knowledge for Operator, you get 2x int bonus to damage in the first round and 1.5x after, the weaker exploits from lower perception isn't that big a deal as you apply more exploits from higher int, and the effect of them is based on number of stacks as well as perception.

Towards the end of act 3, Argenta is my main damage dealer, but I'm comfortably 2nd or maybe 3rd. Not bad at all as I was focused on skills.

Yeah, I played around with Forge World too, but in the end of the day I like Pasqal unique abilities a lot and Cassia can be the "party face", I just wanted to have 2 officers in the party without "wasting" FEL points.

I wanted to try this, but i just couldn't be confident that owlcat would have factored it in for everything (esp master tactician talents). Have you unlocked the second tier classes with it and is everything working as it should?

LOL. And how many FEL you will get from it? 20-25? Up to 60-65? It doesn't much - some late-game checks are pretty hardcore and require 120-150+ skills.

The game has bugs.

Fellowship replaces thoughness since noble gets Order : You, protect me

Fellowship will then not only increase your own wound but increase the companion wound as well meaning that a glass cannon is given thoughtness of a warrior by standing next to the noble.

Since noble replaces thoughness with Fellowship and it as well replaces their thoughness depending on who has the highest stat.

In theory this would make you able to pick anyone even your warrior and tell them to get even higher wounds or as example the tech priest has no thoughness but high parry would allow certain classes shine where they are given higher stats than ordinary.

The trait to exchange from Fellowship to intelligence as well removes the idea of Fellowship. But it is a trick to make sure you given the abilities.

Fellowship is pretty much designed for noble since it has another order who give buff to any ally affected by a buff.
They can be operator or navy officer.
They're end up being machine gunners and the game favors stacking of ballistic

Ballistics compared to melee gains critical base chance. Melee gets none.
For this reason cover means little since even when the best cover the Ballistics gets a base 10% to score a crtitical hit.

No you don't double both Int and Fellowship you just get the skills for Fellowship.

? Patchnotes state that since 1.1 patch every 1% advantage in WS over enemy in melee translated into crit chance.

Which then is compared to their stats but with Ballistics it goes straight to critical hit and passes go.

No? Only excess BS (over 95% hit chance) is translated into crit rating.

Forge World is so good for Int. Step aside Pasqal and let me reprogram that. No, no I have social stuff handled too Jae. Go nap in the corner.

I think its Fel based on # of navigator talents, not Will. If it was Will that'd be amazing

Not if he goes for Forge World background, and gets the perk (I forgot the name) taht makes all social skills scale off Int instead.

Int builds are actually OP in Rogue Trader. You can get so much scaling off it, even Plasma, Flamers, Power and Melta weapon damages.

Yes, best background in the whole game. You can even get extra damage scaling on several weapon types off of Int with it.

In that case his Officer abilities will be garbage. You can't have both perks as they're for different backgrounds :)
