How to fight the governor on Janus
Hi,
i am aware that the boss fights are difficult but i am stuck with the fight on Janus at the end. The maiden is summoning new Demonettes every second round and the 4 guards are shredding my team. There is also no cover in the room before the summoning place.
How did you guys fight here?
I tried to lure them into the hallways but the guards are still a problem. And the seemingly endless flood of demonetts.
Thanks for advice !

You need to rush the maiden or she will keep spawning.

I sent Argenta with a run-and-gun to blast her with a bolter burst fire and Abelard jumping in with his dash attack ability.
Rush is the name of the boss fight, the rest of the mook enemies can be picked off later.

You're not being aggressive enough. You have to get in their faces and kill summoner quickly, ideally within a turn or two.

You can also snipe from the doorway. Set up Yrliet in cover, use her ability that inflicts bleeding, shoot, then in my sights every turn and keep her protected from the bodyguards. Coupled with the extra attacks from Cassia’s bring it down ability you should be able to just overpower the room before it becomes unmanageable.

Just keep in mind bring it down cancels in my sights.

Also lock the priestess in hand combat with Abelard and use powerful blow (or whatever his push attack is called) and reckless strike. It will push her out of cover and the auto attack of opportunity against him won’t land anyway.

Priestess doesn’t have a lot of HP, she should be dead in a turn or two at which point you can mop up.

The important thing to this game’s combat is to identify the key targets and find ways to focus on them without getting bogged down by their grunts. That way you control the flow of battle.

For all my complaints about the number of bugs and poor development and business practices of Owlcat, I really enjoy the way they set up their battles.

Cast analyse target with Idira and Pascal and 1 shot the priestess? All demonesses disappear when she dies. The rest are just normal mooks. I didn't even think this was a boss fight.

You can level high enough to have 2 Yrliet assassin abilities - bleeding for AP and nuke for 1 AP. Buff her with Officer, put into Cover, apply bleeding, apply vulnerability, search for exploits and finally - nuke. That's killing most bosses if you're doing it properly (boost her crit chance & damage by killing trash mobs with extra actions from Officers).

Seriously, with even 1 dedicated Officer in party (plus Cassia) our xenos girl will be able to clean most fights in a single turn if you aren't anger Dark Gods of Random too much.

When you enter the area where you trigger the combat hug the left wall and try to sneak closer (there is side entrance to room where maiden is summoning) After start of combat first thing I did was to take down dude throwing stun granades and sent Abelard with taunt and defensive stance next to maiden, also if tanks turn is after maiden just send someone else there since she will not be summoning if she is in close combat, then it was standart take down ranged foes while Abelard was fencing with Demonettes

I think by this point I had Devastate on Argenta. that along with Burst Fire (and Rapid Fire) gives her a very high chance to knock down most enemies and essentially stun them and they lose a turn. With those abilities I was able to pretty easily pass this section.

Another option, depending on your party is to lock down the doorways, taunt the demonnetes to one of the entrances and lock them with your tank. Use ranged fire to take out at least two of the bodyguards from cover and when an opportunity presents itself, rush the summoner, flank and shoot/stab her repeatedly, while giving additional turns to you chosen damage dealer with an officer.

The best option is to rush the room, but you can snipe the maid from the outside in a pinch. Since it was clear she would summon hew demonettes all the time after a look at her ability, I did the same as Mack. Argenta and Abelard stormed the room with everyone going forward after them. Argenta managed to get her after she summoned a second demonette with the aid of my two officers. The rest is mostly a mop-up operation. Between extra attacks and debuffs the other opponents did not do much damage.

A got a precise bolter for Argenta and a good flamer. With 2x Seize the Moment, Run and Gun, and her first ultimate she killed two demonettes, a guard and damaged the maid, as she ended up near her. Having a free grenade toss helps, too, if someone remains stanind with 1-3 hitpoints. Tactician is really nice for a sniper, my RT can one-shot most enemies he has in line of sight. I could maybe have killed the maid with him, but I went with the safe option (95%) and eliminated a guard instead.

I am not fond of the act 2 companions Jae and Yrliet, who are going to share the bench with Idira.

Assassin is WAAAAY better for sniper. Damage that scales from enemy HP and ability to ignore armor and dodge are perfect for dealing with bosses.

Assassin? Archetype deals nice dmg but this 10% really makes no change when BH/Tactician snipers can slap 150+ crits at that point in game and thats Turn 1 not after slapping 20 stacks of debuf on enemy first. Assassins are more support & can openers and need to be close to benefit from most of their skills

Except Yrliet doing 250-400+ crits at that point in the game and have 2 attacks per Officer extra action abilities? And if I will be able to put her named sniper rifle it will turn into ~500+ damage per turn :steamhappy:

They don't, they have 2 dedicated skills for sniping.

I just had the sister of battle shoot her down in round 1. She is shooting 6+ times for me per round. (Of which at least 4 are bursts) She's cleaning rooms left right and center.

She generally kills the boss(es) in the first round and the rest of the team mop up the rest.

90% of the fights end before turn 3 *shrugs*

And since no one seemed to write this one. If you go around you can enter the room from the side letting you start the battle with Maid in line of sight for your snipers so you can just snipe her turn 1, or turn 2 if you prefer not having half the team stunned and snipe Lieutenant first
