Combat on the harder difficulties I can handle even when I have endless LOS issues, but the ship combat on the harder difficulties is awful. This really becomes an example of where you must play EXACTLY as the dev intended or you're boned.
if they are so lacking in QA guys they should just let the players do it while it is officially still in a beta stage.
When it comes to positioning always try and position yourself so the enemy is hitting the strongest shield of your ship, in most cases they will attack your sides, I noticed. So when you get a grip of the movement and positioning and all, I suggest you take the fights with pirates, in my opinion those are the easiest because they start to flee after a certain damage threshold leaving their other allies vulnerable, of course if you want the rewards you will have to destroy them which is much much easier while they are fleeing since it takes them 3 turns to activate light-speed.
Game is lore heavy space combat is ment to be a slow hard thing, with that being said one you actually it some upgrades all yall crying goes out the window cause the game lets you move be crafty use warp ♥♥♥♥ lol its actually fun as ♥♥♥♥
Press space bar to speed them up.
At least ship combat in this kind of feels good to play, it's just a shame it's balanced like a sledgehammer.
Still a billion times better than the horrendous turn-based unit battles in WOTR, though. I don't think anything will ever compare to that. Even post rework that combat system is atrocious, and it's about ten fold better than it was on launch.
you can get upgrades to go first(silent running 1 and 2)
also dont forget to put your companions in ship posts to get abilities to use in ship combat
you can also later get an escort frigate to fight with you in ship battles
its nothing super in-depth and it can get stale if u just keep fdoing them over and over but they are way more spaced out than wrath's army battles and they are also better than those army battles where you'd just either stack ranged units to snipe everything or use general spells to wipe out whole enemy armies in 1 move
yes, as i said at least 1 escort that ive seen so far, it is AI controlled tho
