Chapter 2 Industrial Colony

Hello, I’ve been enjoying the game but I hit a snag. How do I gear up my ship? I did Janus and most of the worlds I can explore looking for the Industrial colony, and I finally found it.

The problem is my ship is like level 3 with level 0 merchant upgrades and a random gun upgrade I found after a random ship battle. There’s just no way to beat 6 pirates I don’t think. I have barely any ship mod merchant rep after all this time, so I can’t get any upgrades that way either.

What do I do? (Spoile-lite please)

There are vedors ususally on ships you meet. They sell upgrades

But as always you first have to get Profit level and more important the faction reputation

Yeah, but neither of my colonies have rep upgrades for the ship merchant, and there aren’t enough ship battles in the systems I’ve explored to turn in enough goods to reach even level 1.

ship battles are random you can travel back and forth to generate battles

Oh ok, cool. I’ve only ever seen the shipmcombats in system. I’ve never had a random ship combat only random team battles.

Is there a big difference ship wise between doing your capital world and not? Because I’ve only done Janus. I wanted to hit up Cranach next, so I’m at 1/3 colonies (well, I have two colonies but only one of the three you get a major story quest for - Janus)

I think you get an AI controlled sword class frigate during ship battles once you have gone to your capitial, that might help.

If your escort ship is destroyed will you be able to get another one or are you back to flying solo?

There is a certain choice you can make on Dargonus that can occasionally provide you with random goods, items and ship parts. Not sure about Khiava Gamma but I'm only just starting that one. First thing it gave me was a short-burn torpedo battery firing 1 more torpedo per-salvo with better manoeuvrability.

How to get it below.
Opt to rebuild the hive then negotiate with the tech-priests in the nomad gangs that form.

Yeah that’s what I ended up doing last night :). I finally got some rep with the ship part merchant guys now that I’ve gotten development options for them, so I think i can take on those harder fights I couldn’t do before. I got a lot of upgrades, now.
