Ya the boss fight is really stupid they do understand people play video games for fun right? A sniper dealing 50 damage per shot and a space marine is not fun.
Turn down the difficulty?
For some of us, challenge is fun.
1. Turn down the difficulty
2. Get filtered
I'm one above normal theres a challenge and there's being unfair. I should not have to lower the difficulty because the developers don't understand how to make a boss fight.
I've beaten Aurora twice on that difficulty level. A bit rough at times, but hardly impossible.
Regardless, it's thematic. It's a damn Chaos Marine Champion!! :D :D
The mechanics of the fight are that you want to bring him down in about 2-4 turns before he starts destroying shuttles. The best way to kill him quickly (and you should just focus on him), is to seriously debuff him with Idira a debuff psyker build. Expose Weakness+Weak Soul, Weak Mind talent upgrade to get his Willpower resist down. Then Lidless Eye stun him with Cassia + extra turns (if you can get another Leader like your MC even better). In combination with stripping his deflection if you can. Sensory Deprivation debuff ability which blinds and can easily lower various characteristics by 40-60 points etc etc etc.
Then have Bolter heavy Argenta burst build him down and melee are hopefully tanky enough to take a few hits from him (which if you are debuffing properly they should). Abelard should have Taunt by this point as well. Still hard though especially on top difficulties. :p
Never said it was impossible I said it was unfair. It's clear they didn't think out the encounter from a players perspective.
They have trust me. This type of topic is not new. It started like day 3 of Beta and those are are still around in that Playtest forum (and this one). Dozens if not hundreds of pages of advice and argument on it... encounter hasn't changed. :p
That says a lot about the developers if they just ignored what people were saying in the beta.
I skilled my Abelard as tank with taunt and every deflection and armor skill there is, and positioned him right up to the enemy so he would be targeted first. And it did work out. First salvo he lost nearly half hp but then it was my turn buffing the hell out of him and taunting everything but the sniper and with the rest of the team I massacred them.
My MC is a Ministorum Priest Warrior with "Shield of Faith" and "Flensing Faith", so my 4x WP bonus % is added to armor and 2x WP bonus is added to dmg and 6x WP bonus % to penetration.
He had 60 WP in the fight and with him I shredded the space marine. Did around 15 to 25 dmg each hit with his chainsword and handflamer.
He is also a chainsword expert with +4 to minimum dmg I think. So he is my Demon/Xenos killer.
The sniper can be ignored because you have tons of armor buffs and he can't kill any of your team in a single shot even with crits. The tricky part is to get good rng so that the chaos marine moves after at least 2-3 of your team mates. If he moves first you will likely lose at least 1 companion depending on your difficulty settings.
Cultist Sniper was indeed a much more annoying threat in that fight. However - killing Aurora wipes out all other cultists, so you can just focus on CSM and ignore the rest.
Plasma and grenades also work well on that monster, btw.
