No need to overload my brain with info that is not relevant to playing the game, though I guess the lore about Rogue Traders in general that's in the book would still be applicable?
Yes, the NPC Rogue Traders in the game are from the RPG. Some of the planets and locations are too (Footfall definitely is).
Rogue Trader wasn't bad but it was janky and bloated. Fantasy Flight had a basically bad engine they built their TTRPGs on, and it showed.
