Are Shields are thing?
Ya, i wanted to play a charismatic Tank. but i don't really know of shields actually exist in game. You know like storm shields and the like. so has anyone encountered one in game or should i just roll with two axes.

We'll probably get them with the first DLC, given how iconic they are for Arbites.

Not going to lie kinda hoping they would move away from adding more Generic imperial companions. Like we don't need another sister of battle or space marine or Random human. I really want to see like i don't know anything else? Hell a Orc freebooter would be very entertaining. Tau explore would be nice as i would love to have a companion that has a real gimmick. Like being able to equip various mech suits.

Regardless no more imperial chumps.

Yes inquisitor this one over here.

You do realize you get a Eldar companion right? Your already breaking the rules. And hell you can get a Good eldar and an evil Eldar. Least from what i read. That and you can get splint weapons. Which are well known for the Drukaria and not craftworld eldar.

Regardless, verity is the spice of life. do we really need another human companion? Also come on, think of the banter. Imagine having an orc chat between the space marine. sister of battle, eldar ranger. Navigator and your character. This ♥♥♥♥ is comedic gold.

also funny thing is Rouge traders have almost the same amount of power as Inquisitors. To the point that it would be Insanely Risky for the inquisition to go after one. Least without a massive massive reason to do that. And having a pet orc that tags along because you found it stranded in deep space. And it made a deal to help you beat the gits who abandoned him on a space station.

Ya i don't think the order Xenos would really try to murder you for that.

Might want to brush up on your 40k lore, shields are most definitely a thing for quite a bit in 40k for mankind. Arbities use them, Crusaders use them, and many others.

There's a lot of "lore experts" on this forum who aren't aware that anything outside the main tabletop wargame exists.

Which is hilarious, since the Arbites have an entire unit with shields and batons in the table top. And it was broken OP a few months ago, IIRC.

why would a rouge trader need a shield . simply use your serfs. think about it

You can build extremely tanky characters even without a shield.

(Most) Swords give 10% to parry so either using a 2 hander sword or a sword in one of your hands is a good idea if you want to be tankier.

There are not "Shields" so to speak, which honestly, are only used by select Warhammer 40k disciplines, such as certain arbiters, space marines, etc. As the ceramite used to make the shield would be heavy.

There are power shield trinkets, which give you a revival should you go down, which function as a sort of life shield. I do wish they displaced you rather than revived you, but we get what we get.

Aside from Astartes Storm Shields (which have a built in energy shield) and Bullgryn shields physical shields arent really a thing in 40k, whats more common is for the elite in society to have energy shields either from wearing an artifact (like a rosary or circlet), from another piece of worn equipment or as a psychic power.
Might want to brush up on your 40k lore, shields are most definitely a thing for quite a bit in 40k for mankind. Arbities use them, Crusaders use them, and many others.

Arbites shields are riot shields like normal police riot shields, they have a built in loudspeaker and two sets of mmanacles for securing prisoners to the shield as well as the ability to magnetise.

The Crusaders shields are the same as the Astartes use, they have the option of switching the energy shield generator out for a taser like stun effect instead in which case they lose their defensive value. Crusaders though are very rare and elite bodyguard unit for top officials as the church is forbidden from having 'men under arms'. They certainly arent common and are recruited from the same elite Schola Progenium schools that train Commissars and Tempestus Scions.
