Aurora STUPID FIGHT
On the verge of uninstalling. The fight at the end of the FIRST chapter is impossible. A space Marine who takes no damage, a sniper on the OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP who NEVER MISSES. To top that off, trash mobs the respawn. WTF... How did this game get through so much beta testing and have such an F'd up fight. I love 40k but this is BS an there is no reason to play with such BS.

I wish more fights like this were in the game. unlucky

The fight is only easy if the RNG doesn't wipe out half your squad in the first round, or if you cheesed into a cookie cutter build. This is textbook Owlcat "If you don't build OUR way, you fail" game design. To win this fight on any challenging difficulty you need to be specced "right" and exploit mass debuffs. It's not that the fight is HARD perse, and there is no "git gud" in a TTRPG. You simply do not have the specific, perfect build required to stomp the fight. In other words, you made the mistake lots of players make: You wanted to have fun with your build.

You can have fun with a build or you can progress in the game, there is no in-between. When people say "git gud" and act like there is some kind of complexity to the system, they are literally just going on reddit and finding exploits.

I just boxed him in with Abelard and my Biomancer where he first appears (or Heinrix if your custom char isn't a melee). The Chaos Marine will automatically switch to melee because he cannot get off his burst fire, which is where the majority of his damage resides.

Space Marines take up 4 cell-blocks and cannot bypass any terrain that is less than 2 cell-blocks wide. This includes your characters.

Use Abelard's taunt. He should have a decent amount of Toughness at this point because the Chaos Marine will attempt to kick him and knock him prone.

This is also the easiest way of getting the Achievement where you kill Aurora without him destroying any of the shuttles.

Pasqal should have the Plasma Gun + using Exploits (armor debuff) on the Chaos Marine. There is also a Krak Grenade that deals considerable damage that you get from the Trader shop early on.

Argenta guns down any Trash Mobs (that's literally the point of her in this fight).

Lol. I get it, the steam forum is probably packing some of the sweatiest "gitgud" minmaxx0rs who have ever played this game... but then here I am, the complete opposite of said hardcore crpg dudes, on my first owlcat (and 40k) videogame not wasting even a second of my autopilot funtimes on coming up with a "plan" or "build", let alone exerting mental energy on actually executing on said plan in any way, shape or form... and not even I had any particular difficulty or problem with any fight before chapter 3 (which is where I am now).
I can't even remember the finer details of earlier encounters anymore so you probably have me beat there. On the flipside, I did invest some time in reading through tutorials and tooltips on how stuff in the game works so... maybe having the vaguest idea of whats going on and thus actually having fun is to blame for silly me not taking personal offense in some/most/any of the design choices the developers made.

Yeah, I just kinda picked stuff that looked fun, and placed my backline behind cover so they wouldn't get hit by his huge heavy bolter.

You'll always have at least 2 tanky melee companions in your group to lock him down with unless you do something really weird with your build, so idk why people are struggling on normal - maybe I just got lucky with RNG though?

I also did a pretty huge hunk of his HP with Pasqual's plasma gun - so I guess if you didn't have him with you, or forgot to equip it before the fight, you could get caught out?

I made a couple lucky 60% shots against the sniper as well. But they were shots made with a 30 BS psyker, which is something any party comp. can attempt.

But otherwise, you don't really have a 'build' at that stage in the game - most of that comes together in act 2 once you get your second archetype.

Most recent patch apparently made him prioritize burst fire over melee, I don’t know if that would make him easier by proccing a bunch of free attacks of opportunity (unless he has close combat perks) or way harder

Easy way to prevent her burst to kill several party members is to spread them over on setup
DON'T pack everyone behind the large cover, she'll line up all of them turn 1 !
In my game it was hilarious, she managed only to damage 1 guy of mine but killed 2 of her goons lol

Is there something with this forum and incorrect grammar correction? It's is the correct form of the word in that context. It's (it is) a dude

Seems daunting at first, but it's not hard once you figure out what to do. Key is to survive the first turn with as little damage as possible. Spread your party as much as possible and don't disperse them in a single line, because the heavy bolter fire from Aurora on turn one is murderous and hits several party members if they are in a single line.

You should get rid of the sniper by turn two if at all possible. Use your long range operative to do this. My PC is a longlas equipped operative and she one shot the sniper from behind cover across the map. Use deadeye shot, preparation skill if you are in cover (boosts ballistics skill if in cover and analyze enemy to increase your damage and precision.

I parked Abelard and Pasqual next to Aurora and they kept just hitting the CSM every turn. Since their Parry was insane, Aurora couldn't hit them back. Cassia provided extra turns for my MC and she and Argenta kept the crowd away with Lidless Stare and Burst Fire. Idira can buff and debuff with impunity, since veil degradation starts at zero in this fight and you have the only psykers.

I managed to win this way on Daring, without losing a single shuttle.

It's the same Aurora from the Cenobium and the triumph. Just now possessing the body of a Traitor Marine. So it is a she.

Yea fight is pretty difficult on unfair mode. Had to reload the encounter if he killed half of the party on first turn.

When I did beat him it was only because he only killed Pascal 1st round and 3 others were at <10 wounds for the entire fight.

Also kill the sniper first and AOE all the adds. Spread everyone apart. Aurora isn't that bad once you survive turn 1

Assuming the woman you "killed" was the original
