Your Character.
Just wanted to pose a fun question for the discussions, what sort of Trader are ya'll making? I love the character creation in this, and think it gives some good head cannon room for character start.

For me I went with a voidborn, bastard noble that got kicked out of his home to be born in a space station, then slowly managed to claw his way back into the Planetary Governorship, only to then be abducted into the Rogue Trader plot instead. So now, with an idea of what it is like on both ends of the social strata he is taking his ship, The Fulcrum of Liberty, and trying to establish his own little iconoclast corner of the galaxy where people can work together against the evils of this galaxy, both within and without the empire.

Love the options we get in this for RP, curious what others have come up with for starting, please keep spoilers from past the intro/creation limited. :D

Nice post.

I'm playing a sanctic psyker operative.

I know psykers are this distrusted, hated group in the WH40K lore but mine is this void born freak who over compensates with his zealous belief in the emperor to have any sort of meaning in his life.

I'm personally left wondering what sort of meaning he'd have in his life if didn't have the narrative of Rogue Trader to inhabit where he's given a lot of power and authority.

He'd just remain a hated freak otherwise if he wasn't an heir.

I've built him with a focus on intelligence and lore. I like playing crafty support characters who stand in the back-line directing meatshields at the front.

I'm playing a similar Voidborn except not zealous. Almost did, but the voice was a bit over the top for my Iconoclast character build lol. So I went with the Pragmatist voice for a more Noble Officer type Psyker that just happen to be Sanctic more or less.

Actually as I type this I just thought of my headcannon Story. Ilaunched the game to see proper references to Triumph/Darkest Hour for the below: :)

Initially - RT was a travelling Noble or Highborn Merchant with a rumoured connection to the Von Valancius family, who was hitching a ride on a Pilgrim Ship somewhere in the Calixis Sector from Terra.

Triumph: - Illustrious Glory: While travelling on said Pilgrim ship through the immaterium it was attacked, and my RT's Psyker powers awakened and ended up saved the day in super heroic fashion, saving as many as one could.

Darkest Hour - Shadow of Torment: After saving the Pilgrim Ship my RT was sent to Terra for Sanctioning, initially passing the tests and rites. However, something went terribly wrong (or did it?). An error in the Sanctioning that almost killed the RT after hours of torment. However, in this darkest hour there was a light that lead the RT back from oblivion. The Emperor's Light. Now my RT had a strong connection to Emperor.

With the error in Sanctioning it was being debated whether or not my RT would be sacrificed to the Emperor. Whether or not it was a blessing or a curse (something to do with in-game plot maybe? :p ), but providence eventually came when Theodora intervened, requesting my RT's presence as a possible Heir.

*As a sidenote i'm really diggng Sanctic Psyker on Unfair. Although no Psyker or other AoE buffs apply "when ally is targeted by one of your abilities" talents, the massive ranged AoE of Word allows us to buff resolve for all allies easily. Then heal or buff everyone too on the map every turn. It's funny when your junk NPC allies start triggering Heroic Acts all the time too lol.*

AM Commander, Forge World Int build with Plasma weapons, Soldier into Master Tactician.

Run and Gun is an amazing skill, and the Overcharge skills on Plasma weapons play very well with Soldier perks.
Couple that with Heavy Armour Training, and the FW perk that makes immune to prone if you have Heavy Armour, the other FW trait that makes Plasma, Flamer and Melta weapons damage scale out of Int, and they another FW trait that gives all Fellowship skills now based off of Int; and I got a huge damage, extremely tanky, skillhog character, who basically always wants just more Intelligence, because it does everything for him.

I love how many Voidborns we have in this thread already XD. These both sound really cool, Psyker looks really cool I just can't decide if i want to be a Dogmatic one, or one that just goes mad with the power, both warp and political, once they get the Writ.

The idea of a tortured and maligned Psyker doubling down on his faith in Big E as a sort of justification of what he went through sounds really neat though.

Commisar telepatic officer tactician.

Telepathy substitutes the non-existent officer's damage till he gets to tactician. Later on I am using psyker abilities just for CC - like mind rupture and for finishing of enemesies not worthy of AP of damage dealers I am using bolt pistol with tactician's buff.

Fluff: Eisenhorn and Gaunt had a baby. Kind of RPing both of them. So when it comes to Imperium matters I am Dogmatic, but when it comes to my fellow soldiers I am Iconclast.

In my simultaneous playthrough ( I like to switch after each quest to see outcomes) I have a heretic fire psyker operator-bounty hunter It spawns chaos every other turn, but the damage output is insane. He is running Heavy bolter as well and some perks which also turns BS into psyker bonus damage. Needed that BS when shredding cover with my Heretic heavy bolter.

Fluff: Just a pure madman, true Slaneesh lover reveling in decadence, self indulgence and edginess.

Both of these are very valid on hard and lore friendly as well. This game is quite easy (not BG3 easy, just easy for Owlcat game) so lot of builds are valid even beyond Normal.
