Warhammer Gladius is for you then, you can play all the race. Dawn of war too.
And while I do agree there's definitely good potential outside of it... Well, fully orkish games don't really lean themselves to a CRPG as much as a side scrolling beat/shoot-em-up for example.
There was Tau Firewarrior about 15 years ago if that is more your thing.
Oh, on the one hand I really want to play that, on the other, that's probably cause of nostalgia.
But yeah, if you wanna play some other faction, there *are* games out there, just not a lot, and even less CRPGs
I do believe the OP wants something not at all Imperium aligned. That's why they brought up Mechanicus.
You want the frank bottom line answer?
Because, the core of Warhammer 40k is the Imperium. It is what the entire setting revolves around. It is the largest volume of sales. It is the easiest subject to do right.
Look at Firewarrior, 40k's first shooter was about the Tau. Adnit tanked. I would love if we had more games whose central theme didn't include the Imperium or Chaos ***at ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all*** but so long as GW is exerting enough control, what we do get like that is going to be severely limited.
Tbf FW was just awful game to begin with. In every aspect.
