Character creation is bad?
https://www.pcgamer.com/most-rpgs-are-getting-character-creation-wrong/

Am I the only one that just doesn't even remotely agree with this article? One, the math he cited aren't that hard to parse, and I'm terrible at math. Two, Almost every single RPG I have ever played, if you play it on normal difficulty, you can probably get away with basically any build you want. WotR and BG3 included. As long as you don't do something horribly, obviously counter-intuitive, you should be able to clear the content fine.

And when it comes to taking a class that's too similar to a companion you wanna keep around, this is just stupid whining imo. Boo hoo. Double up on your roles/slightly change someone's role, or switch them out and use them in the next playthrough when you know what you're doing. If you wanna know everything, go look it up prior. Some people play games like that, I can't, but if you wanna, go for it, it's your choice. But don't whine when it happens if you don't.

This comes off as rambling to me, and the formula presented is for transparency, getting a slight feeling this person would be happier if they just hid it by default but that wouldn't really help either.

Having companions overlap is gonna happen when you have only 4 classes to pick from so that complaint is rather silly. Besides that, the companions should cover various builds, so I don't see the problem with the overlap. It just sounds like they are looking to complain.

Let me summarize for you.

Choice bad.

That's it. People are afraid of choice. Just pick whatever it really doesn't matter.

dont read pc gamer reviews lol. He gave golem a higher score than this game, a game that hardly even works lol.
There is nothing wrong with builds and character creation. You can come up with so many crazy builds that are nothing like ur companions. Yes you might have some overlap but that happens in all crpgs pretty much. Still you can shape ur character in lots of ways. I have a psyker piromancer whos also a sniper, im playing on Hard and into act 2 now. Had some hard fights but honestly unless ur playing unfair i feel any build and party setup is viable.

The guy just sounds like he didn't want to play this game and thus got annoyed at trying to understand these new systems.

i don't even know what i'm doing and if it's going to bite me in the ass later on but nothing seems broken so far.

Many choices in regard to stats and skills, but very limited in regard to appearance.
The skill choices may even be a bit overwhelming, especially for new players

You can respec later, except the basic choice of what you are, so you can re-arrange your feats and skills if you find out you really want them different.

Besides, there are differences between the archetypes.
