Having companions overlap is gonna happen when you have only 4 classes to pick from so that complaint is rather silly. Besides that, the companions should cover various builds, so I don't see the problem with the overlap. It just sounds like they are looking to complain.
Choice bad.
That's it. People are afraid of choice. Just pick whatever it really doesn't matter.
There is nothing wrong with builds and character creation. You can come up with so many crazy builds that are nothing like ur companions. Yes you might have some overlap but that happens in all crpgs pretty much. Still you can shape ur character in lots of ways. I have a psyker piromancer whos also a sniper, im playing on Hard and into act 2 now. Had some hard fights but honestly unless ur playing unfair i feel any build and party setup is viable.
The guy just sounds like he didn't want to play this game and thus got annoyed at trying to understand these new systems.
The skill choices may even be a bit overwhelming, especially for new players
Besides, there are differences between the archetypes.
