So...how the hell do you hit anything?
Using a noble officer with 50 ballistic skill who is completely incapable of hitting a target at range. At all.

Even when given sniper rifles and other crap with bonuses to hit, he's still finding a way to miss unless hes virtually jamming the barrel down the target's throat. Wearing the goggles that give +5% to hit, hasn't helped.

I get officers aren't going to be wiping out groups by themselves, but no one else in the squad has a problem hitting targets and its getting increasingly depressing that the main character is the weakest one by far. Anyone got any tips?

It's getting to the point that I'm seriously wondering if its a bug.

remember position,buffs,debuffs,weapon expertise and cover
also laz gun twohanded ranged also i think perception also affects chance to hit don't remember.
also when in doubt spread shot multiple 30 percents are better then one 50

Early on, the numbers are pretty low across the board. Spray-and-pray is where it's at. And officer doesn't really get any bonuses for direct combat, either in raw stats or abilities to boost themselves. So as Shadowfox said, your best bet is get in cover then put some lead in the air.

Yep, Perception increases your doge reduction stat, which reduces enemies dodge skill when you shot at them.

I'd recommend you invent in more weapon skill, more skills that reduce enemy dodge, invest in more perception or pray to the Emperor.
Or just play in lower difficulty.

cultists and rebels hit with almost perfect accuracy and my character who's an Astra Militarum commander with 55 ballistic skill cant shoot someone with a lasgun gun whos 5 squares away and not in cover.

Well normally they show the hit chance in a white circle just having ballistics/melee skill is a start....

My sniper MC has a consistent 95%~80% hit chance since lvl 1

What i want to know is where is the crit chance/damage if it shows anywhere....
My operative long range rifle is going for 95% chance most of the time.
For other team members, use buffs from your support characters. And read about the stats so you can increase them during the levelling up.

When I play officer, I mostly spend all my AP buffing and enhancing the soldier equipped with a sniper rifle next to me do land a killer snipe shot at double distance. Like others it is a consistent 90% for the sniper if they have those buffs and use deadeye shot.

But also, you're not wrong. My experience so far is questioning a Sister's training with how much she misses and if the difficulty I'm on gives the enemies the ability to hit through cover or ignore the common perception of height advantage and still land shots from the bottom of the stairs.

I've just gotten past that boss that can kick (which I think should of handed my ass by lore), and these are the following talents and abilities I chose:

Ability
Take Aim: Buff the sniper. Ignore cover and double distance is one hell of a drug.
Move, move, move: Reposition an ally. I normally use this before Bring it down!

Talents
Seize the initiative: Act first regardless with 2 AP. Basically give your sniper a first attack.
Lead by example: I tried to get this working with Move, move, move but I've been unable to trigger this. Trying to give myself movement since my friend playing the sniper keeps moving away from me.
No respite: Characteristics bonus until end of combat.
Lasting impression: Characteristics bonus until end of combat.

Spare
Focus!L Perception/BS bonus
Be Vigilant!: WS bonus

If I can, I'd give Voice of Command to a soldier with revel in slaughter stacks and then give them the Ultimate: Finest Hour. I imagine it'd work the same for warrior with their movement on kill but I'd much prefer range in this game.

I imagine once more time passes someone will make killer character builds.

Lol this is a common trope. I was playing Jagged Alliance 3 and my marksman with top of the world accuracy misses more than just random rebels with garbage weapons.

wierd thing my mc ended up being a ranged specialist no idea how put most of my points into speech and support but damn while they may suck at pistol and saber they got the best hit chance of any ranged unit which is sad cause saber pistol looks so much cooler

I just use flamers and grenades (flaming grenades ^,^). Dodge that! If that doesn't help, I use more flamers on the same target. :lunar2019grinningpig:

the sniper operative with cassia giving extra turns is immoral the fockeng boss respawned 4 times and all 4 times he dies in the same turn LOL

Same problem of Wasteland 3 and Xcom snipers are just ridiculous

Yep my Mc Analyse him sniper poof 40 damage Cassia gives him another turn puff another 40 damage

3 or 4 times game is basically my MC shooting heads with the weird waifu making me go again and hard buffing
