She's absolutely suicide at high difficulty levels.
I'm level 8 and non of the fights have been even close. My Lord Captain is a Warrior/Biomancer and I have Idira.
Warrior Biomancer: I'm running a chainsword in one hand, a pistol in the off hand, and a staff as swap-to. I have iron arm and Invigorate as my Psyker spells. I'm using Biophysical distortion to catch enemies that live by a small amount of HP, Adrenalin Surge allows me to cast Iron Arm for free on the first turn. Since Iron Arm sticks around the entire combat I jsut always have this on. Corpus Conversion Makes Iron arm makes Invigorate and iron arm even better. Idira's Forewarning increases Dodge and parry, Then Cassia's Reveal the Light increases willpower and toughness. This character can usually kill at least 2 enemies a turn and is hard to kill.
Idira(Ranged Operative Divination): Idira I run 100% ranged. She is either going to use her staff and do a chain lightning or Psychic Shriek depending on the battlefield. I'm using Second Sight to give her attacks more range, Advice and Guidance adds 10 to weapon and skill and ballistic skill until the end of combat the first time Idira applies a buff to an ally. This makes Forewarning even stronger. Stabalising Factor keeps the Veil Degradation down, and Subtle Manipulation allows me to cast spells even if there's someone in her face.
I don't consider veil degradation that much. It goes down by 1 every round, and with Cassia's Stable Routes you can lower it even more every round.
The main thing is figure out how you want to deal damage, then decide on some tools to help support yourself and others, and use those tools to first support the front line, then the backline. Don't sleep on the support skills. You're limited on attacking, and most support abilities last the entire combat. This is huge.
She does more damage only because she has a higher psi rank than you.
Which is the same reason why she summons chaos spawns out of nowhere.
Idira summoned 2 daemons and turned one of the basic enemies into a Chaos Spawn during my fight in the electro temple on Rykad.
You know the one that's timed or you die.
So while Abelard is being beaten to death by that thing, the rest of my party is desperately trying to finish the encounter. She got benched right after.
I'd rather do less damage than randomly summon boss enemies during a fight.
This becomes way less of an issue once you get Stabalising Factor.
Even still, I've had two daemons pop up and attack me during combat. While everything else has at most 50 HP, the Daemons have over 100. Because of all the buffs, my melee jumps on them and they're a non-issue.
Might be an issue late game, but where I'm at it's free xp.
Does Second Sight work for you? i got the ability and the tool tip didn't show any increase in range for psychic scream or ignite. Counted the cells range on the abilities and that didn't increase either
Idira as an unsanctinoed pysker has a chance to cause perils on EVERY cast, not just when the veil is highly damaged.
If you're a sanctioned psyker, this isn't the case, and Cassia doesn't damage it either and can in fact fix it with her abilities.
Some laugh at BGsee WIldmages and Neera, but I think even neera would say they need to send the red mages after them if it was not for fact the demons f off/vanish if you win battle against normal enemies.
