After I started my character I realized I do not how much my Character portrait has a mismatch to my custom character, It's driving me a bit mad. Is there a way to change the portrait in game?

might be toybox mod functionality for it but if you're early in the game i'd just say remake.
The toybox mod is your top choice.

If you are using a custom portrait then you can swap out the file it's using but if you are using a basegame portrait you'll need the mod.

You need to find the directory you portrait is in, something like

C:\Users\MyName\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader\Portraits\0001

Just swap out the *.png images there and replace with the portraits you actually want. Or rename directories to the same effect.

How do you do it with the ToyBox mod if you picked a base image and already are say level 10?

Okay so figured it out I think. To swap from a Default portrait to a custom one.
You need to add the new custom portrait to the AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader\Portraits folder name it w/e the default naming scheme is 0001+ so make yours 0002 or anything.
Then load into game, go to the Party tab and under your character or any character I think, select Stats one of the first options will be their portrait. Under Custom portraits when you select Search, it should show you the total number of folders in the custom area and you can search the name of the folder to confirm it's there. Next type the exact name of the folder into the change option, close the Mod Menu, Save the Game and Restart the game.

On loading that new save you should have all 3 custom portraits replacing the default now if there images were setup correctly.
Bug I see atm, none of the custom portraits show up in the Mod Menu with the IMGs like the defaults do.

To do so with Toy Box, you have to open the Party Tab, then click/expand the "Stat" arrow for your main character. Right away you will see the current portrait of your character. Scroll down and click/expand the "Show Custom Portrait Picker" arrow. Click the custom portrait you want to use. Then select/confirm "Choose Portrait" option. You now have the custom portrait instead of the previous one as your actual portrait.

Also note the option to pick from blueprints, which allows you to pick in-game portraits and images (like going back to a default one or an NPC portrait) for your character. Interestingly enough as a portrait editor myself to make my own custom portraits, you can actually export default portraits and images out of the game here by saving them as PNG. This is how I got a much better quality/resolution version of the female psyker portrait to redo my custom one.

Further there's a voice picker option to to change your character's voice.

After messing up mine with two different portrait packs.. and manually finding the files and swapping them.. it works but at what cost lol.
