I have tried EVERYTHING to fix this. All recommendations by users for this game, and past owlcat games. Nothing fixes it. Leads me to believe we will just have to wait for them to fix. How this shipped as "full controller support" is mind boggling.

yeah, controller is totally wonky.
restarted three times thinking i missed something in the tutorials yet still have 3AP and can’t shoot a NPC when i’m standing right in front of them. just keep pushing buttons until
i give up and end turn so i can stab them with some other companion wasting AP.

just take a look at the button mapping in options makes no damn sense. i wonder how PS5 players are doing.

Hello, which specific version of controller you got?

My Xbox One Series X Bluetooth works great (except for some UI issues w/ the larger text).

In their last game I did have to disable Steam Input in order for it to be recognized properly when they first launched the feature.

I'm not him but experiencing similar issues.

The gamepad works fine EXCEPT if i wanna move my character directly up, or directly down with the joystick, the game does not let me. I can move in any other direction, but as soon as I move the left joystick to either 0° (up) or 180° (down), my character comes to a complete halt.

I'm certain the issue is not my gamepad as I loaded up like 4 other games to test, and confirmed I'm only experiencing this issue with Rogue Trader. Really unfortunate since I've been looking forward to this game for such a long time.

If the issue was wonky animations, or a minor gameplay bug, I wouldn't mind, but this bug makes it near unplayable. Freedom of movement should be #1 in any video game.

As far as the exact model of my gamepad, I do not know as it's my brother's, but I know I have never experienced this with any other game on this gamepad.

I have the same issue with directly up/down direction refusing to recognise, left/right works fine. This is on a RoG Ally controller

If your controller up/down is not working, here is a work-around:

download and run VIGEmBUS:
https://github.com/nefarius/ViGEmBus/releases/tag/v1.22.0

download and run VDXtool:
https://downloads.vigem.org/other/paraly/VDX_v1.14.3.0_x64_x86_GPDWinEdition.zip

run the program, and connect as a Dual Shock 4.
If you press connect after already running the game, your controller prompts will remain xbox type.

you will need to connect the controller through VDX anytime you reboot your system. So this is just a temp fix to get you playing until the issue gets a proper fix

Easy SMX generic controller. Listed as "ESM Controller 1.05" in my devices. It works fine with all my other games on steam.

I also tried my "ASTARRY Wireless Controller Compatible with Xbox 360" and have the same issues.

And to repeat what others said, yes my issue is the same with the trying to move up and down stuff and whatnot

After looking here and on reddit, if the dev happens to read this, I think the problem boils down to third party controllers. Real xbox controllers and steamlink users seem to have no problems, but anyone using a generic/thirdparty controller may be experiencing this issue.

I also would point out a windows update that happened a week or two ago that really messed up some controller related stuff. I dunno if that will help you but gluck

Yikes, didn't have that happen thankfully, but yeah ton of bugs unfortunately. Glad I can now move up and down though, that was kinda game breaking lol. Hope they fix it soon, vdx is not a perfect fix
