What's the deal with all the samples at the navigator station?

Of course I found the machine where I could mix them together, but I figured I'd return there later but now the station is defunct so I can't return.

Did I miss something important by not working it out?

You missed a handful of consumables. Nothing noteworthy.

You get 6 doeses of warp damage immunity for 1 battle. Probably really good in certain boss fights, but still, just a consumable.

And 6 doeses of an adaptive antidote.

Or possibly blowing up the station if you mix it really badly.

Mind you, I also got a level from the XP making them.
