Report a translation problem
I suspect there are differences in LoS code for NPC's and the player as I've tested both being fired at by the sniper on this map, while being unable to fire back with the positions reversed and using a sniper rifle and from what I can tell, you are more vulnerable with elevation than the AI, and the AI appears to either use static range value for LoS, or the pathfinding script automatically moves to odd positions where LoS is allowed

It'd be nice if they fix it quick: though I've pretty much adapted now.
- red lines not showing up when they are supposed to indicate firing range
- not being able to target companions with buffs "no sightline" despite having obvious sightline with nothing interfering, moving one square to the side fixes
- enemies being able to shoot through cover (from below a bridge even!) and from CRAZY far away, I cannot do the same, so it takes me 4 turns of just moving and getting hit with bullets to get within range
- grenades seem to be totally worthless "no line of sight" when it should be obvious that there is
- just generally constant "no line of sight" errors everywhere when there clearly shouldn't be.
As with the OP I am the same - at the Starport with the soldiers and rebels and no matter where i hide my characters or what i did to break LoS with the terrain i am being blasted by Lasguns on auto and getting peppered constantly. Only managed to complete the encounter on Easy after 5 attempts because the enemy wasted half their own guys with FF.
Well over a full screen away standing in the open and blasting me through the shipping containers and sandbags without issue. Container is full cover and sandbags are half so i expect the odd hit there but not the others that fully break LoS.
As for the whole the enemy can see me through walls and i cant see them in return thats just a whole other joke.
EDIT - there seems to be no mention of this in the known bugs part of the game discussion........
