Not true. Rogue Traders are known to use ships up to heavy cruisers quite regularly as their flagship usually supported by a fleet of smaller vessels.

Actually, it's not unusual for larger Dynasties (Which von Valancius is supposed to be) to be based off of a Grand Cruiser as the Dynasty flag.

Theodora's flagship being a Frigate is like a trucking company CEO showing up in a golf cart. Given the hardpoints we've got I really can't for the life of me figure out why Owlcat didn't bases us off of a Cruiser or Heavy/Battle Cruiser that is damaged and needs to be restored to full function.

I can't remember the name, but IIRC the Rogue Trader who accompanied Drusus used a Gloriana and there was a Dark Heresy adventure based around it. No chance of seeing one in game though, the tiny handful that are remaining are SM/Custodes only.

Not only are Gloriana class Battleships out of production, they are only relegated to Space Marines. The Imperium currently has 3 (that is known at least), the Eternal Crusader for the Black Templars. the Honor of Macragge as Roboute Guilimman's command ship and the Invincible Reason for the Dark Angels. All three of these chapters are either from original legions or in the Black Templar's case, one of the largest non-codex-compliant chapters. The rogue trader is nowhere close to being as powerful as these three. If the Rogue Trader has a Gloriana class under their command, there would be 0 difficulty to the game.
