Girl, these ARE toys. Pewter if you're old enough. Plastic if you're modern.
Painted with gaudy pastel colors!
At least show SOME respect with the source material when trolling, please.
The squishy squelchy gore, however, is not cartoon.
Frankly, it can be argued that Star Wars has a far tinier scope and magical component than Warhammer.
I don't even know that much about Warhammer 40k and even then I know you're absolutely correct.
WH40k is whatever other settings are, with the insanity turned up to 11.
Soccer hooligans vs the bugs from Starship Troopers. Space elves vs WW1 infantry waves. Undead Egyptian Robots vs Gundams.
Plus it's Rogue Trader, which has always been the least grimdark and most freewheeling of the 40k settings.
This Happy Fantasy Style Setting is not my taste.
Play Orks. They'll convert you to the goofiness of 40k real fast.
But you've never seen a purple orc ;)
You can even make SantaClaus Dark and Edgy if you use the right Style.
I talk about the Artworks of 40k and they are always dark/edgy.
Even if Orks are Stupid, Funny and Green and think that they are faster if they use Red Paint they are brutal af.
No reason for it to make it more child friendly then Warcraft.
I dont care about your Toys that you paint like a little Kid without any Talent.
The Lore and World of 40k is Dark/Edgy and the Artworks of 40k Media is showing this.
Even the Rogue Trader Core Rulebook has dark and edgy Art on it and in it...
Same reason why 95% of 40k Games are dark/Edgy... because 40k is.
This Game looks like a Child Version and stupid af.
The Maps dont even make sence.
They just Put Assets on a Dungeon Layout and let you play in it.
Shootas, Blood and Teef was a huge departure from the typical art style, and it was fantastic as well! : D
The only real complaint to the art style and direction I have is that so many passives and abilities have no art or copied art from another skill. Some of the passives just being abbreviations of their full title while other are full icon art without any real rhyme or reason makes the former seem like dev placeholders that never got added for launch.
Seeing the ship, I don't feel its far off from how Darktide portrays the inside of a ship. This is a running ship with crew, of course its going to be brighter and cleaner looking.
I would expect it to be a darker setting only after its been heavily attack, or invaded by some xenos or the warp and 90% of the crew is dead. Then I'd expect everything to look all dark and jacked up.
Example in Darktide the ship is well lit and populated , but then you go to missions in the hive and everythings all dark and edgy as you put it. Which makes sense.
