Also I have found it can take some time for things to show up on your PC sheet or in some cases it might never show up or it might show some of the info from the last battle. It has gotten better but I have still seen some issues.
Come on, this is basic maths: Multiplication always goes first unless there's brackets involved.
And yes, it is additive, so if you are wearing armor worth 40% it shows up as 55% on the character sheet, and not just in combat. If you hover over the number, a tooltip will appear showing just how the total figure is derived.
It's funny though how people are trying to do basic maths like they are the second einstein.
