Only two xeno companions?
So we're only getting two xeno companions, both are Eldar, one is already confirmed to betray you regardless of what you do and the other is a Dark Eldar so them betraying you is pretty much a given. The whole point of Rogue Traders is the fact they're the only humans in the Imperium with the freedom to interact with aliens and take them into their retinue. The only reason I was interested in Owlcat making a Rogue Trader RPG was because I thought we'd be getting a lot of interesting xeno companions, but it seems like Rogue Trader is going to be just another Human-centric 40K game.

Hmm, the only real xenos that would realistically join us would either be eldar (from any faction), kroot, or Tau. Oh, maybe even a Squat or w/e the hell they are called now since they have been reintroduced.

Besides that, all other races would just sooner kill us than talk to us.

And read a bunch of 40k books. Anything else you'd like to add?

You do realize the books are just to create whatever narrative the author wants? much like there always being as many elves/eldar as the plot demands to die?

You say no to chaos but we literally have a narrative path in the game dedicated to chaos with the herticus path, with which owlcat could let us either chaos corrupt our companions or get new companions . All of which they have let you do in their previous games like with the lich path is wrath of the righteous

And this is what every RPG discussion devolves into - the iseaki harem. You're in the grimmest of settings where entire planets get the Exterminatus delivered on them, but you want to have cute girls.

I hope the devs make a bunch of girls and have them all be secret Slaneesh cultists that corrupt you, i feel you would betray the God Emperor for a damn candy bar if some "cute" Tzeentch demon showed up.

Same thing is currently happening with BG3 - it's all romance, romance, romance...!

Nurglettes are were its at.

I like big butts and I can not lie!
No other Nurgling can deny ~.~

Idk, all the companions id want wouldnt really fit.
Like, im trying to think how a Necron would ever lower itself to be in your service and just cant think of any real excuse.

Don't get me wrong, Nurgelettes are very homely with strong familial values but their Papa can be a little over bearing at times ya know?

Yeah a Necron would be a hard sell. I could see a quest with an insane Magos trying to control a warrior drone, ending terribly. Or a chain of quests with someone like Trazyn using you as a pawn of but I couldn't think of a scenario where you could have one as any sort of companion.

If you're interested in Necrons though I definitely recommend the Mechanicus game if you haven't already played it.

Like others have said there are a host of Xeno's included in the the RT:TTRPG but there's also countless mentioned in lore or as units within other factions. Off the top of my head there are the Vespid, both kinds of Hrud, Demiurge's and the Sslyth.

And then there's the abhumans within the Imperium. Ogryn's, Squats, Ratlings and even 'Beast Men' that come in both Canine and Goat forms.

There's plenty of interesting characters that could be included and now that I'm thinking about it I'm a little disappointed that Owlcat hasn't gone weirder with it's companions. But I guess there's still hope. Both Pathfinder games had around 9ish I think and so far only 4 or 5 have been revealed for this?

Still got my fingers crossed for a domineering Kroot mercenary huntress with an unsettling interest in my meat.
If you want to get technical Wrath of the Righteous has 21 potential companions, but only about 11 of them have any real substance or are recruited so late in the game that they might as well not count.

Orks dont make any sense as companions with the current lore. Remember, Rogue Trader was 1st edition. The lore is hilariously outdated, and nowadays the idea of dark eldar or orks as companions to rogue traders is ridiculous.

I know it's an older reply, but this is not based on the 1st edition of 40K. This is based on the table top RPG of the same name, which came out around 2009/2010.

Not the first time GW has reused names for different products.

In the original Rogue Trader table top, you could have a Kroot, a Tau, a Kabalite, a Wych, a Ork Freeboota and a Ork Weirdboy. Just because you have a grimderp grasp of the lore doesn't mean developers should too.

You also had Inquitor Sherlock Obi-Wan Clossau and a lot of other stupid ♥♥♥♥, like the half-ekdar ultramarine librarian.
Not a point in your favor. Early RT was unrefined and silly.

Orks are way too one-dimensional and violent to ever be a proper companion. They kinda work as mercenary armies, but there's no way they would behave in a retinue.
Jokaroo would work.
Tau... perhaps. But why would you want a Tau? They are weak and stupid.

Pretty sure that was Rogue Trader the wargame and first edition of WH40K and not Rogue Trader the TTRPG. I do love the goofy trivia from back then though.
