I'd rather there be no romance options.

Absolutely agree. But the casuals and non-fans would be up in arms crying about muh romance

To OP, youre not a 40k fan, go away
dilate

in the grimdark future of the 41st millennium, there's only horny teenagers wanting romance out of a universe where people's heads explode from the inside on a regular basis.

why you are a rogue trader the most pulp of pulp professions possible in 40k, whirlwind romances tend to be part of the job and it's not exactly a concept that is outside the scope of 40k for ♥♥♥♥♥ sake Ciaphas Cain and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Eisenhorn have both had love interests on some level hell one of the Cain books points out in black and white that most SoB aren't bound by oaths of celibacy they are just too busy to form long term relationships

Okay, who is it your character supposed to woo? The Sisters of Battle are fanatically loyal to the Emperor. They're not required to be celibate but while they're on active duty, like thunda mentioned, they're going to be occupied with only their duty to the Emperor and the Imperium. If they survive long enough to retire, sure. Speaking of Cain, a singular exception of a man (It wouldn't surprise me if the Emperor had an overt hand in pushing his luck to the extremes), he did meet a retired SoB in the schola progenium who was in a clandestine relationship with a retired ministorum drone. Though, by the way she's described, she seems as much of an outlier like Cain is.

Then you have the unsanctioned psyker. That's a literal time bomb and I would execute her or box her up as warp fuel the first second I get.

Then you have the navigator. Navigators are not going to sully their bloodline with someone who's also not a navigator. Lore-wise, she should be as caustically superior to everyone around her with the probable exception of space marines and Inquisitors and even then you can't completely breed out that level of arrogance and haughty.

If you pick a female Rogue Trader, the seneschal seems too hide bound to think such a pairing would be appropriate.

The Tech Priest.... ha ha ha ha ha ha!

The Interrogator, there's not a chance in the Warp he'll risk his career. A casual tryst? Maybe but the chances of an actual romance forming is slim to none.

The space wolf? HA HA HA HA HA HA!

You forgot the trader/con woman that is rather perfect for it with no possible hang ups but nah let's just forget about that also let's just casually forget that by the by off the top of my head Eisenhorn and Bequin, Sevrina Raine and Andren Fel, Kalien and Feist, Oskar Viltry and Beqa Mayer, Ibram Gaunt and Merity Chass, Dermon Caffran and Tina Criid I can go on my dude 40k does in fact have romances in some of it's stories it's almost like it's an option in writing and not everyone is an edgy teenager that hasn't gotten over their emo and cutting phase

Yeah, there are so many 40k noobs here nowadays, who think romance is somehow a part of these storylines. They arent. This isnt a story about some random imperial citizen, none of the 40k books are.

Romance is for them, the mooks, the nobodies. They'll mate and die and never even know what Chaos is. This game isnt about them.

There is an astonishing amount of fungi here who think a space marine should be romanceable. Unless your name is Slaanesh, forget about it

This Vulpi dude seems to be especially unhinged. Got him blocked already so I'm spared from his most wearisome outbursts of nonsense

I guess Inquistor Eisenhorn is a nobody then
Ace-Of-Blades Jun 15, 2023 @ 11:16am
Just going to throw my two cents in to the ring in regards to the Navigator. Sure, they keep their bloodlines incredibly pure for a variety of reasons. To maintain their monopoly on 'safe' warp travel, as a bargaining chip for wealth and power and to ensure they don't breed out the Navigator Gene.

These are incredibly old and powerful families and you know what? Most of them probably don't do it for the good of the Emperium or 'there fellow man'. Most of them probably do it because of all the wealth and power that comes with being what they are and where they're from.

If they're anything like the old nobility in our own history, whom they are most definitely based off of and inspired by, then I can guarantee you that there are more than a few that enjoy a menagerie of concubines.

As an aside I think that people don't ever consider the large amounts of 'down time' these characters undoubtedly have and what they might get up to to fill that in. Sure, some will be content with praying in seclusion from dusk to dawn but others wont and you know what? that doesn't exactly break the setting.

As far as anyone who's not a space marine chapter lord, a primarch or high lord of Terra, yes. He's one of near countless Inquisitors that have come and gone over the millennia.

As long as I can romance a twink, I'm good.
