V/H/S inspirations?

idk if im reaching or if im on to something. But the game looks like it was made with V/H/S inspirations. Specifically V/H/S 94 (i think) the one with the news cast going into the sewers and finding those weird sewer dwellers, also the funeral part of the movie

I doubt it. I think it's more for the "Found Footage" style than the V/H/S movies.

You are not reaching. I bet the devs love horror movies as well (like yourself I assume.) V/H/S is most definitely a found footage style series of movies too, so good observation.

Ok I just finished 1 playthrough and I loved it. I'd say if you are looking for movies to compare this too for inspiration probably the movie "REC" with a tiny bit of "8mm" mixed in, at times I was reminded of the movie "Nightcrawler" as well. Can't stress enough how cool this game is, such style. A must try for any horror mystery fan.

Can't speak for the other team members about this (V/H/S might have been mentioned at some point, I can't remember), but at least I have never watched any of the V/H/S movies.

My strongest reference during the project was actually Noroi and TV GUAÍBA, an actual local TV station that operated when I was a kid/teen :)

DAMN NOROI, WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT. such a good choice for inspiration, seriously one of the best horror movies out there! The reason why i asked about VHS is because one of those shots used for the steam page just gave me intense vibes of "the empty wake" scene. Where a burial for a friend is being prepared and he wakes up during the preparations to attack one of his friends who was recording the preparations. In hindsight, i was kinda reaching since the "face to the wall then sudden turn" has been a massive trope since the blair witch. But hey, doesnt hurt to ask

Personally the game really reminded me of SCP-1733[scp-wiki.wikidot.com], while still managing to retain its own originality. The combination of still and animated scenes in particular really contributed to the atmosphere.

it's an amazing game but it didn't remind me of v/h/s/ at all, while i'm a big fan of that series it really put me in mind of local 58, and there is something about keeping everyone's face in shadow that also reminded me of noroi, although i think the stories are pretty different.

this was one of the scariest games i'd played in a long time, cannot believe it was free--great job to the devs and the writers.

I think even more than V/H/S, this is in the vein of a podcast called "Video Palace" about a podcaster who receives a tape and while investigating it a series of strange and horrific things happen. It is a really great podcast. After playing this game for only 15 minutes I drew a lot parallels.
