I saw the negative reviews about the AI voice lines and story, and I thought, "Come on, it can't be that frustrating to ruin the experience." But, dude, it really is!

It feels like the developers are overly proud of every bit of dialogue they created, since the characters NEVER SHUT UP. It's extremely annoying and lifeless. Each dialogue feels vague and emotionless. I actually ended up muting the characters (which isn't recommended, since they sometimes offer helpful tips).

The gameplay itself is fun, but it feels a bit unpolished. It's fast-paced to the point where you start to feel a little lost. The dialogues also overlap and sometimes interrupt each other without finishing their sentences.

The core idea is cool... I’ve always wanted an RTS + tower defense game with lots of creatures, and they kinda delivered on that. But don’t expect a polished experience like They Are Billions.

Update: I gave it more chances, I really wanted to enjoy this game, but the controls are terrible and to be honest you rely much more into a very limited luck system (3 items to choose) rather than strategy itself. It's just not fun.

I do like the game but I swear NOTHING ruins a game faster for me than for to lose simply because I have bad luck. Seriously. You can totally lose a round due to bad luck. Play that same round again and it's a cake walk... simply because you got 3 turrets instead of 0 on your first drop. TOO MUCH RNG! Devs... why don't just just show me a pair of dice and just roll that and tell me if I win the stage or not huh? It's the same thing!

I want to like it, but there are so many new player traps. The game design seems built around you knowing what to plan for in the future but the game doesnt provide any information and there are no guard rails.

Had I seen the voice acting was AI, i would not have bought the game. I dont want to support this.

There is a lot to be said for the gameplay, but i will simply say its mostly luck, your loadout as far as ive played has zero relevance. You wind up relyng the the RNG gods and favor stupid tactics over valid critical ones.

You can build up your space station but each thing takes up slots on a grid, so you need to upgrade your station to fit more. However you need power cells to do this. You need to place a facility to produce powercells, but if you placed one of the other structures in the wrong place your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ till a mission gives you more powercells to upgrade your spacestation to produce powercells, after the game asking you to place things down before the powercells.... this is so dumb.... Oh, but i accidently spent them on something else, well ♥♥♥♥ you. Also you cant move the facility because ♥♥♥♥ you. So you have to hope a mission will provide enough cells... This isnt the only thing that likes this, every upgrade ive made so far has felt like a mistake. Only thing that has seemed to matter at all is upgrading the very basic stuff thats free. Each mission you can choose from a list of crap, some items are unlimited and once upgraded have a greater impact than any thing else ive seen so far, the other weapons are cool but have not been of any value so far. BECAUSE i cant even afford them, as i cant produce the resources to make them or upgrade things that the game is expecting. Ive got the building to produce powercells, but cant lay it down, this is the practically the beginning of the game....

The game itself runs fine and the graphics are ok.
It has this cutesy look and feel to the game but feels off. It has this edge where its hardcore but then has this weird candy glaze over everything. I will try to explain, it just seems weird. Like, theres this lady you meet at the intro of the game who works for what sounds basically like the Imperium of Man. Shes talking about ritualistic implants and basically becoming a psyker or what ever. IDK. Then your fighting off massive endless waves of bugs and it gets pretty tense, but all the characters are in a good mood and happy about life. It just feels confusing.
The difficulty kind of felt all over the place, i was running hard missions that seemed easier than medium and vice versa. The hardest part was getting my units to do what theyre told or accidentally moving them around. The interaction with units needs more work, it has been a pretty annoying issue.

I stopped playing just now cause i asked my self, do i want to start a new game or spend the next couple missions losing out on what is effectively the tutorial with tons of resources and time wasted. Then burden myself with the question if there is even proper balance in the game to make up for this. Not only that but how many more times will i run into similar issues.

Over all i like the idea, but i have some pretty harsh feelings about some core design choices. It would not take much work to address these issues i would think. But they have really just ruined the experience for me.

The game could be good, but success and failure come down to the random loot box mechanic. Skill is not required since the bonuses you get determine your success. You can play the same mission 10+ times, but you will fail each time until you get the correct upgrade. Did you not get the double damage turrent, well you die. You got the 3x mini gun this time, wow you win! Again, it is not a skill game, and there is poor balancing because of this.

I like it. It has full tower/hero mobility. Very fast pace with some rogue lite stuff too. If you liked the creeper world games give this one a shot.

+Enemies die and leave flowing liquid blood/flesh that can be used for production. Effects enemy pathing.
+Terrain damage and terraforming that effects the flowing liquid.
+Everything is very responsive.
+The orbital abilities are more interactive than normal. Some of them you actively aim as weapons.
+The heroes perform like stick shooter heroes. There is also game mode that plays like a stick shooter
+Great performance. Should work on most devices.
+Several game modes that all work fine for the core game play.
+Control scheme compliments commonly used actions in game play very well.

+The extremely fast pace and design makes failure less discouraging. Taking the rogue lite aspects into account there is no reason to be frustrated with a bad outcome. Quickly try different difficulties or go to a different level and come back again with better tech/loadout.

-Sound is just weak all around. VA is AI generated. I would turn it down or mute it entirely. The combat sounds are fine, but they are so quiet. Give em some punch.
-The visual style could use something to enhance depth. It looks very flat despite being 3d.
-2D art is a little rough for my taste.
-The story was entirely uninteresting to me. It takes up a very small portion of the game so it doesn't bother me.
-The menus are odd as well. The HUD is fine in game.
-Camera. A fully orbiting camera would be nice.

The game is a rarity overall. The game play is great out of the box, but the visuals/sound not so much.

IDUN is not your typical tower defense game. Unlike traditional TD where you place static towers and watch them automatically take care of the enemies, what I really enjoy IDUN is the ability to control and move units dynamically. This unique blend of RTS and tower defense mechanics creates a fresh experience I’d call "Defense RTS." It keeps you on your toes with its intense, real-time decision-making.

One thing I’d love to see in the future is a true Endless mode, where the challenge keeps going without a predefined end, allowing you to test skills against ever-increasing waves with a leaderboard.

Overall, IDUN offers a unique and exciting twist on the genre, and I’m excited to see how it evolves with future updates.

By "Dive into a fully voiced story where the relentless attacks are just the beginning. Join the crew as the story unfolds in unexpected and game-changing directions." they mean fully AI voiced. Uncanny and bad. Would have much preferred just text.

AI voices are painfully bad. I just play with everything muted. There is no resetting your game. you can start over but your station seems locked in from previous games. going to play it still because i already bought it, but id say just watch a youtuber play it. you will save yourself from frustrations.

Becomes tedious and repetitive after only 2 hours. After 2 hours you pretty much done everything, and you repeat the same objectives on the same map attacked by the same waves.

Main issue are regular tiles on the planet, there is lot of them and they feel like a tedious job at a factory. Clear 1 tile by 1 doing the same thing every tile. And there is a lot of tiles on a planet you need to clear to reach any special missions. It would be a better game if it was shorter but with different maps, waves and objectives.

Game is not perfect but it's FUN, there are for sure some QOL things necessary, although some things are "harder" to understand, with average IQ you'll get the hang of it pretty fast within the first hour or two.

The 99% of the bad reviews spent 0,1h in game, which screams skill issue = bad game -> (we all know that one friend that skips tutorial, than gets mad for not knowing how some stuff works.)

All things considered, 8/10 fun experience.
