You could even have interactions between elements, say the liquid left by blood? electric could electrify the whole pool doing wide area damage (and to keep it going you need to avoid towers that destroy liquid), or ice one could freeze the pool for a time making the enemies slip and be stunned as well or move even slower...
Also it would be nice if we could make some turrets prioritize enemies, say sniper turrets to target high value targets like the catapult thrower bugs, rather than the things they launch, and maybe a way to direct turrets to target 1 specific enemy or direction (specify an arc where they are allowed to aim, had an instance that a Howitser with it's wide arc but snail slow aim would try to rotate around towards a different direction because the current one was clear for now...).
