I heard there was previously some lower res texture or shadow map mod for Shadow Raid but I don't know much about it.

Don't think you can turn on AA though, because the game just doesn't support it
Back to the point, the AA in PAYDAY 2 is quite "♥♥♥♥♥♥" anyways, same as PDTH was. PDTH used an AA I never knew about, had to google it, and it's a rare AA that is only used in a few games, my guess the same AA is used in PD2. You could try forcing AA through your control panel if you have Nvidia, no idea about ATI/AMD.
That might cause the "no light" or "bright" game bug.
