Weird screen flicker on 1920x1080

I should first of all mention that yes, my screen is indeed a 1920 x 1080.
But when I set the game to this, I get this weird flicker that gets really tiring on the eyes (and it is especially noticable as I am typing this in steam, where the problem persists), like I'm almost getting a headache.
I could also go to a lower resolution, since the problem stops at that point... at the cost of getting a headache from the terrible quality instead.

Anyone know the cause of this and/or how to fix it?


EDIT: I should probably also mention the fact that my monitor itself gives me this "Nonpreset mode" pop-up when I switch to 1920 x 1080 in-game. My monitor is 7+ years old, so that might have something to say.

Didn't seem to fix the problem I'm afraid, still getting weird flickers.

That might be the reason, have you tried turning off AA or Vsync? You can turn off AA manually in the renderer file.
What is the refresh rate? 60? Make sure it's the same value in the file.
Also, make sure your driver isn't forcing different settings. If you use Nvidia the global option can be turned off. I'm not familiar with AMD

Open renderer settings by notepad and change resolution/ refresh rate to yours.
