[LEVEL] Stealing Xmas - Gameplay "Latch" in Shoe Store
So, it's only half a bug, because what I am reporting is actually what is preventing a major sequence break from existing.

To keep it short, you can open the backroom door of the shoe shop with a saw, C4, a drill, whatever you want, before even getting the objective for.
However the heels don't spawn until you get the objective, and this is assuming they spawn there in first place as they can also spawn in the storage room in crates. So the fact that they don't spawn at the beginning of the heist and only spawn in one spawnpoint is a great way to prevent sequence breaking, unlike what we used to be able to do on Biker D1.

However, the heels spawn once you get into the store once the objective is activated, meaning you can open the door if it wasn't already done, grab the heels and secure them.
The thing is, the heist is locked at this point as long as you don't hack the computer THEN step in the backroom.

THIS ISN'T A SOFTLOCK. Once you reproduce the aforementioned, intended steps, the following objective is immediately available if the timer for it was done (beating Santa or burning the flare).
There is just a little cosmetic issue: while not softlocking the heist, since you grabbed the
heels before you were supposed to do so, the "hand" objective marker for them stays until the end.

All this latch does is stopping the mission as long as you don't reproduce what you are supposed to do in first place.

It doesn't benefit the player in solo, and barely saves 2-3s in multiplayer, so while it is a good thing, this is poorly done in the end.

I think that the door shouldn't be openable until you hack the computer.
Note that I said hack the computer and not get confirmation that the heels are in there. Opening the door a bit earlier isn't game breaking and is more logical for the flow of the heist. However this fix prevents players from opening the door before they get the right objective, thus they can't witness heels appearing out of nowhere.

This should be in the Bug Reporting subforum

The door MUST be openable at all times due there being an addional lootbag behind it (a bag of money), which is required for the Grinch achievement.
So your suggestion doesn't work as it would make the Grinch achievement depend on RNG and hence impossible to complete in all the runs where the office door of the shoe store doesn't need opening (there being 5 stores and 3 need to be plundered, it's likely not to be chosen. And even if it is, you can end up having to open a different area instead, still not getting the bag)

Mmm you are right, I forgot about that.

So then the heels should spawn from the beginning (if they do spawn in the backroom) but only be interactable once you complete the previous objectives.

Just leave the box in the back room permanently and don't let players secure it until it lights up. Opening the door to the back room isn't the challenge "in character." It's finding out which box we need by hacking the computer. It's the same as the shopping bags around the store - you don't get to open them until you find out one of them contains the box you're after.

If this is a technical issue of being unable to make a lootable thing non-interactive until triggered (I don't know if it is), just put the box inside another box. One we hack the computer, we open the exterior box, causing the interior box to open. No magically-appearing shoe box necessary.

Partial necro to say that this has boned up at least one game I've been in. Shoes were secured before completing the hack, objective didn't update.

I think Malidictus' box-in-a-box suggestion is an elegant solution to this issue, assuming something similar to the setup for the safe under the tech store counter

This should be only a visual waypoint leftover that doesn't block the mission, so I think you restarted for nothing, unless the previous fix broke it even more.

Was surpised that your OP said that it seemed to be cosmetic, given in our experience it seemed like a hard failstate.
We hung around for 30 seconds or so and the objective stayed the same (shoes was the second package to be secured) after the hack was completed. May have been we just jumped the gun, though, as nobody playing was familiar with the bug.

In my experience, objective is locked only if you don't hack the computer and don't enter the room. If you do those 2 objectives, the heist just goes fine afterwards.

If you pick the heels up before doing them, then you aren't softlocked and you can continue playing the heist, however the waypoint for picking them stays until the end.

As you can see, your objective is securing the presents, so it should be fine. When you are locked, it clearly states "hack the computer" or "enter the backroom".

It was pretty late, but as I recall the order was something like:

Got shoe store objective (door already drilled).
Shoes were grabbed and secured.
Hack computer objective appeared momentarily as the shoes were secured, then was replaced with secure package objective.
Hack completed/objective stayed the same (no prompt/outline for Santa punching)

Re-reading your OP, am I right in thinking that the best course of action would have been to ignore the hack entirely? Wouldn't have been able to avoid entering the room, as that was where the shoes were.

Mmm, then I think that Overkill's fix actually broke it.

Bit of an edge-case it seems, maybe due to the wonky timing of objectives firing/being completed in this instance.
