Best guns in VR?
Hey, I've played PD2 VR for a few hours now and wanted to know what loadouts other players like to use in VR. I have noticed that pistols and shotguns seem to out-perform automatic guns in terms of accuracy, damage and ammo cost.

The stats are identical to what they are on desktop, with the biggest exceptions being that snipers are more difficult to use effectively because you cant do snapshots like on desktop, and LMG's can be aimed properly.

The biggest difference in the guns is that you can ignore stability because it has no effect in VR.

Disagree. Just finished a heist today with over 70% of my 300 some kills being headshots. I find it quite easy, pop pop pop.

The same ratio is easy to get with pistols, shotguns or even LMG's. The difference is in how fast you can pop those shots.

i find myself loving the akimbo, before this i almost never use akimbo in pancake mode, but in VR they're so versatile to cover two entrances, although they eat through your ammo so fast though

Try akimbo smgs on single fire with body expertise to help with ammo efficiency, less shots to kill means more ammo for later. Switch to auto to shred dozers, the MP7s are my fav.

Don't try to rely on this too much, you really want to focus on practicing headshots, because once you get good at that, you don't need body expertise anymore and that's a ton of points to spend elsewhere.

Agreed. The magnified scopes are really neat, but slow you down heavily when the game throws so many cops at you. They also have a slow ROF, which makes missing more punishing than other weapons.

Well, i think the issue isn't "snipers aren't good for VR", and more "snipers aren't good for this style of game". You can still viably play them, but most levels aren't designed for sniping, and the enemy count is much too high. Snipers are fun, but realistically there's only a few levels where you can really bring out their true worth.

Because of this, I have been rocking the Lever Action, which I suppose is pretty unique when it comes to the sniper class weapons, which I think is great for VR. Ironsigted, so no slowdown when using a scope, and the fire rate is just about every 1 second, which is just enough time for me to line up another headshot before I am ready to fire.

I paired it with graze, anarchist and a suit, and treat it as a DMR (3 pickup per box is better than the regular DMRs, plus armor piercing). You'll be running around snapping headshots all day, add the perk for halved reload speed on headshots and you're golden.

Well, that was partially what I was getting at. The problem is just more apparent in VR because you have to manually aim instead of just aligning your crosshair.

Personally the LMG specced for lower stability with higher accuracy due to the light barrel mod. It allows you to kill snipers with the LMG and since you can headshot at medium to long distances, you save yourself a crap ton of ammo and skillpoints. This coupled with 6 turrets and 2 cop slaves is often enough dominate most situations to the point that you won't need inspire to rez your allies as there will be no remaining enemies to take them down.
Edit: I also usually run sociopath and the fugitive tree for the skill that makes each kill powerup your melee. I take the claymore and poke enemies for extremely fast reload and you know murderous melee with my offhand. It is a lot of fun and very dynamic.

I normally use the Deagle and i can pull off so many headshots from a distance without even aiming.

What SMG do you use

Akimbo SMGs, or LMGs are very strong in VR. Partial reloading and the ability to ignore Stability are very big factors in that reasoning.

I find akimbo guns super fun in VR since you can literally aim at two different places at once, and that is a weapon I completely ignored on flatscreen gaming.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Izhma+Judge combo yet. It's standard top tier build even on desktop, but ridiculously overpowered in VR.
You can spec the Izhma for maximum concealment and minimum accuracy without concerns for stability, and even the extended mag can be shoehorned in. With a modded Judge and skills for concealment, you can reach a Detection Rate of 4. And with crits, it becomes a proper death ray. You shoot in the enemy's general direction and everything dies in a large cone. You can use it on full auto all the time, as stability is not a thing. And you can use the Judge with HE against Dozer faceplates, Shields and Snipers.

Another fine build is the RPK+Bernetti. The negated stability stat helps here a lot too. It's possible to reach 23 detection rate, and that lets you use crits with Low Blow aced (and dodge with Sneaky Bastard aced) to maximum effect. It's a short range weapon, as the accuracy is pretty bad, but it's still usable one-handed. Also our insane VR movement speed helps a lot for range The Bernetti is a piece of garbage, but it's +3 Concealment mod is needed for the crit/dodge skills. You can use it against far away snipers, or to get ammo for the RPK. The only problem I had with this build was that it has nothing against Shield units, you have to dance around them or stab the barrel through their shield (which I avoid if I can, it's pretty much a built-in cheat).

Yeah, but can you actually aim at two targets at once? I use the akimbo weapons like a single one with an extended mag, and I rarely use the one in the off hand. The double handed firepower is good for melting Dozers, or even turrets, but then I aim both weapons at the same target.

I don't think it's as good in practice as you make it seem to be.
