Best shotgun for each ammo type?
I'm not asking for the all-around best ammo type. I don't want people misinterpreting this and saying I should put 000 Buckshot on everything.

No, this is about something else.
Suppose you want to actually use every ammo type. Which shotgun is the most optimal for each of them?
All I can seem to find is that Dragon's Breath works best on the Grimm.
What about Slugs? Flechettes? HE?
Surely there's a "best" shotgun for each of those.

OH i actually have a use for flechettes and slugs!
Flechettes are only for stealth to keep my shot compacted and accurate so i can open doors from farther away more easily, and shoot guards in the back without hitting glass behind them, the one time i want a accurate shotgun!.
and then there are slugs, i only use them for overkill aced set ups with something high damage like breaker 12g, or a judge since i want the overkill aced damage boost rn not a few seconds later after the enemy burns to death. oh and slugs make shields dead like a 5/7 ap pistol, you have to wait for less than a second sometimes for them to burn to death even with a db judge, thats enough time for them to shoot you sometimes.

Buckshot 000 and Dragon's Breath are probably the most universal ammo types. By that, I mean they work on practically everything. This is especially prevalent with Dragon's Breath. You can pack it on the double barreled shotguns and have them wreck house. It's the reason why I'd say it's the best ammo type. As for the other ammo types, they're a bit less useful. Slugs work well with high accuracy shotguns, since it only shoots a single projectile. Flechettes seem to be in the same boat, benefiting more from high accuracy. I recommend the Locomotive for both, since it seems to be able to hit a well enough accuracy. HE rounds don't benefit from headshot multipliers, so high damage shotguns work well for it. It's mostly used on the Judge, and so that's probably the best shotgun to pair it with.

Alright, so far it's looking like...
000 Buckshot: Any & All
HE Rounds: Judge
Dragon's Breath: Grimm/Brothers Grimm

Any other good matches? In my own testing I've found that slugs are best used on already high-damage shotguns, as they benefit the most from headshots. That just leaves them and Flechettes for a perfect match.

Slugs work nicely with the Judge if you're willing to drop some points into accuracy. Kinda like a version of the five seven / rhino revolver that benefits from shotgun skills.
You can sorta make the mosconi like a pump action sniper rifle with them too, although it's kind of a gimmicky way of playing.
If I'm playing with shotguns I usually set one up with fletchette, because, unless you're investing into high accuracy and range, they're the only shotgun ammo type that can reliably hit distant snipers. Usually use em with the higher damage ones like the breaker, or double barrels, etc. Since the damage penalty isn't as bad.

HE also works nicely with the judge, since you can fire off those five shots pretty quick, clearing tightly packed shields and such.
Had some fun using HE with the twin grimms since they basically stack up knockdown on the enemies you hit, making them stumble and fall like five times. Though, you have to make a build around it for it to work

i really wouldnt suggest using Dbreath with anything but grimms/maybe izhma for conceal
it tanks your dps(it cant headshot, but does 100 dps for 5 s from fire regardless of the weapon)
high ROF are best for spreading a lot of fire quickly

Dragon's Breath is so overpowered that it works on any shotgun. Yeah, you're right in saying that Grimms and Izhma are probably the best, but other shotguns work as well.

If DB rounds tank your base damage, then low-damage shotguns (Grimm) with a high firerate (Grimm) or mag size (Grimm) would benefit the most.
