[Help] Editing or converting .texture files
I wanted to try out modding and make a custom loot bag by editing an already existing mod.
http://i.imgur.com/ohwb03u.png
All i have is .texture files and I have no idea of how to edit these since the official modding guide only explains how to edit .dds files. Any idea either of how to open .texture files or how to convert them to openable files?

Change file extension to .dds

That's all .texture's are. Renamed .dds files.

When you want to put them back ingame, change extension back to .texture

Happy modding!

yeah this sounds right.

to edit the DDS files in gimp you need an external plugin and if you got photoshop i think you can open them as-is, but i dont know *as i dont have photoshop yet*

anyway, to change the file extension, go right click on the file and hit rename. Keep the file name the same but change the extension from texture to dds.

open ths dds in the image editor of your choice and enjoy! ^^

Well thanks for that i managed to open these but somehow it just looks very transparent and i cant see much of it while the opacity is at 100% in gimp

is it the normal view or there is a way to make it look more opaque ?

GIMP... don't use it.
Photoshop CS2 is free

and make sure you have the Nvidia dds tool
The thing is i have Photoshop CC and it seems like there is no support for CC in the nvidia dds tool since it says its up to CS6.

A collection of texture tools generating normal maps, texture compression, mip map generation and cube map formatting packaged as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop 5.0, 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS6.

PS: i precise that I tried to install the nvidia tool and Photoshop still cant open dds files

Then use CS2.
Great advice. Spent over 2 hours to download and install cs2 with my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ internet, installed nvidia tools and guess what ?

I never had any luck using Photoshop. GIMP actually opened the files, amazing.

Then you might have a solution for the opacity problem ? http://i.imgur.com/LuWg17A.png

I might've changed some options somewhere, I'll look again later...

Try this first though:

File>New>Advanced Options

Change Fill with: to something other than transparency if it already is then import the image.

Layer>Transparency>Remove Alpha Channel gets rid of the opacity (or you can just drag the image in)

Open it with paint.NET - free download.

Paint.Net is horrible for editing dds files.

Convert the file into bmp and then convert them back with this.

i personally convert them to DDS files - but anything you can modify is good.

What was mentioned here is correct for using it in GIMP; all you have to do is File>New>Advanced Options>Fill with: Background Color, after that open the .DDS as a layer.

You'll get a result that looks like what I'm working with now which is: http://gyazo.com/f94e6eda83d65490c18dd54cac7dfb6b

Hope this is a bit more helpful; the transparency makes this a little edgy for sure but like that it may be more workable. (The suit is one I downloaded from Last Bullet for clover)

You can also try after that Colors>levels>Edit levels as curves which would make it easier to make the colors pop out.
