Fix for mods not showing up

After struggling with mods not showing up at all, I discovered one single thing that prevented the mods from working.

Essentially, mods downloaded from modworkshop are nested in another parent folder. you need to remove the mod from its parent folder, or it will not show up or work. this isn't explained very well on any site, and hopefully this resolves any issues.

I think that depends entirely on the mod. Many mods I've downloaded are not nested in another folder.

I think this "parent folder" you're talking about, is actually just the mod's zip file. You know how zip files work, right? They look a lot like regular folders if you don't have a dedicated zipping program (like 7zip).

Folder has a mod.txt ? Put that folder in mods folder.
Folder has some xml file without a mod.txt ? Put that folder inside mod overrides unless it's a custom map.
Folder has no xml file and no mod.txt also in mod overrides.

and pdmods are pretty much self explanatory
