I'd gladly see someone getting rid of the new "difficulties" and provide a classic mod with death wish as it's supposed to be- like ellie did with her excellent mod.
Thanks for replying! I found this post on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/paydayupdate78/wiki/index
The only issue now is that I don't know how to add maps into the game without including the new skill tree. I really want to play Payday 2 again using the old skill tree. Those are the glory days.
Hmmm well I think the old skill system is much more important to have rather than everything else that comes along with it. I don't mind not having any of the new weapons because they're quite a gimmick. I guess the only way around it is a mod. Where to start hahaha
I really don't like the new skill tree simply because it takes away the aspects of cooperation this very game so advertises. I can one man army pretty much everything below deathwish and 2 man everything that's deathwish. Who needs ammo bags when you can just rely solely on ammo pickup? That's just ridiculous. It's only fun for me for the time being because I like helping new players get started and I like shooting things in this game particularly. The new skill tree takes away most of that fun for me because I'm basically overpowered and it's no longer a challenge. As long as I kill everything, new players will keep me in lobby and I can't use any other build because there's this hidden expectation for me to be a reliable player.
May you tell me more about this "ellies DW+"? What is this exactly? I'm fairly noob when it comes to modding. I found some guides on how to write LUA scripts but I'd have to learn it first. I've also sent an email towards James (Payday 2 BLT creator) to hopefully get him intrigued since he's obviously a pro at writing in LUA.
The game is more dead to me than ever... yet I play because of the people who have tried to help me get back into the game (because I want to shoot stuff as well) and really just simply cause there are new players who are really high level and can't do a simple basic bank stealth. Do you realize how sad that is? Everything, excluding stealth only maps, can be done easier through loud than stealth. It used to be the other way around I feel. Stealth was still challenging at times but nothing unattainable. That's what made it fun though. I hate how Overkill just simply decided a revamp in skill trees was basically dumping skills and recreating entire skill trees after 3 years of gameplay. That's why I quit in the first place.
As a player who started playing this game from Day 1, it may sound to the rest of those who read this as someone who simply longs of the past. I can't deny that; however, if there's a thought of "if you don't like it, don't play it", that's not a resolution. This game changed through the community. We asked for rebalancing but we received something entirely different.
I read older forum posts and people liked the new skill tree at the time... but you know why? It dumped the useless filler skills which is great and it also made people stronger... but over the long run, that takes away the life of the game.
I even detest the idea of having added infamy levels above V-100 because if you look at the game now, V-100 is a low level compared to XXV-100. How do you think new players feel about that?
Overkill needs to look at the implications of their actions and think about what happens if this is implemented before throwing things into the equation. A great example of this is the whole micro transaction fiasco.
if you get an overhaul mod i'd recommend sc's mod over mine though, its a lot more fun and balances things much better
I kind of want to see what i could do with it but i dont have the old code and i rather create a semi-harder difficulty.
also a good place to start learning LUA is poking at some older mods to learn how things might work. I have to say that the DW+ mod did kind of help in some sense when it came to learning how to mess with spawn groups
Interesting.... um... where can I find SC's mod?
Also, I was thinking of grabbing the old hoxhud but I don't know where I can find that anymore. The Payday 2 BLT doesn't work with older updates of Payday 2 so I won't be able to use that. LUA is a weird scripting language... I've like never seen it prior to this game.
