Game launches with no visual just audio

I just dLed this game for the first time. After I launch it, I get a black screen and then the game minimizes itself after 2-3 seconds. I hear the audio perfectly fine. I even disabled the steam overlay and rebooted my pc. I am not sure what else I need to do. Also, as a fair warning I'm not very good with PC technical terms but I can sort of understand a little. I mostly rely on bf for help but he is out of the country for work. =/

This is my system info and everything is updated:
i5 dual core 660@3.33ghz
4gb ram
ATI Radeon HD 4850
Windows 7/ 64-bit
DirectX 11

So basically when you mean by the game minimizes itself, do you mean it crashes? if so i would try to delete the game and redownload it, sometimes when you download things it can get corrupted and cause the game to not launch properly. Hope this helps

Hi. It doesn't crash. It minimizes itself and just shows my desktop. When I maximize it from my system tray, it just shows a black screen and minimizes again. I just hear the audio. =( I have reinstalled and it did not fix the problem. I guess I should have mentioned that.

How many Video ram does your GPU hold? the recomened ATI card is Radeon 5850 with 512mb. Your card meets the minimum requirements

Yeh, I would want a refund if the game doesn't work even though my PC meets minimim specs...

I'm running win 8 and I thought I'd try something and it worked! I went into the PD2 directory and set the .exe into compatibility mode for win 8 (for win 7, set to win 7 compatibility mode). It now launches just fine. Not tested with win 7.

My payday 2 would have the same issue, I found one and only one fix, and trust me, it works almost 100% of the time. When you get to that black screen, im not joking, start clicking your left mouse button in pretty fast, and the game will run fully. It's really weird, but it does work, and that is how i start up my payday 2 so I can play it.

Sand - that really works - thank you - but if you want to permanently fix it, just fix your resolution once you get in the game and it will launch normally the next time.
