Maybe it's tied to a specific weapon mod you have on your shotguns? Or maybe it only happens for clients?
I cannot seem to reproduce this.
Tried it with a clean install, a friend also has the same problem under the same circumstances. No files related to modding were present.
We tried it with both our usual shotguns and as well as with totally new and unmodded ones and the crashes still happen if you follow the guidelines. We were also able to reproduce the glitch as both client and host. Either together in game (I crash as client, then he does the glitch and also crashes) or alone. Both in online and offline.
Edit: I think OP should verify if there' s any residue mod files such as "IHPLAPI.dll" because that' s usually the main problem file.
Edit 2: It seems i missed a prominent step.
4. Do nothing just incase at heist loading screen (this seems to be the most important step to trigger the crash). Yup it has CTDed me with the locomotive (all ammo types; doesnt matter which).
There are NO modded files whatsoever in that video. Not even mod overrides. I know very well which files are part of the game and which aren't. There were 0 residual mod files at all.
We're talking to people at reddit and other sites to see if it's related to options and whatnot. So far, FOV, shadow quality and flush have nothing to do with the crash.
with hoxhud and without.
first i had a soundbug, i only heard the reload not the shot.
then i restarted payday 2. now i have the reload and crash bug.
