DLC heist sometimes crashes the game
I've encountered while I've been playing the dlc heist that the game will sometimes freeze up and then crash. The first time I encountered it the game was laggy and my graphic card was old, so I switched no more lag.
I have completed some of the dlc (do not own all yet) but sometimes it crashes.

Just recently I was playing the Ukrainian Prisoner. The first time I got as far as leading the skid loader to the harbour office. I was looting random crates for more money. Was only playing on Hard difficulty. Game froze and crashed.

Started up again, same heist, same difficulty got avaible again. Though I could try again. This time though I just got into the forman's office and the game crashed again.

Went here to look if there was anything about it in the known issues, but nothing that I recognize. I never have crashes while playing the original heist that came with the game, so I know it's dlc related, though it's more the newer dlc like breakfast in Tijuana, border crystals, midland ranch, lost in transit if that makes sense.

Anyone else having the same issue and have solved it?

It sounds like you're experiencing the out-of-memory crashes that are very common on later released heists. You can try turning down Texture/Shadow Quality, see if that helps.

Out of memory?
Which memory, if it's RAM (64 GB) there should be plenty. If it's the graphic cards, I'm not sure how much there is.... ah checked with CPU-Z and it's 6 GB. It's a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, I used to have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1024MB before I updated and that lagged as hell, was barely playable.
So with the updated graphic card it runs good, but sometimes it crashes... it's kind of annoying since I don't know when it'll crash.

I have plans in the future to upgrade to either a GeForce RTX 4070 16GB or GeForce RTX 4080 16GB.

Heists (ranging from the ones in Q4 2018 (not sure) all the way to Crude Awakening) tend to be rough, memory-wise due to shoddy optimization; this is why your game is crashing on such heists.

The game itself can't use up all the memory your PC has, only around 4 GBs iirc.

The game's memory is limited, and there's no way to increase it (it's an engine limitation which would require Overkill to fix it). You could have a monster computer and you'd still have the same issue - your hardware doesn't help unfortunately.

32 bit applications have a 2gb memory limit.
This game was made "large address aware" to have a doubled (so 4gb) memory limit, but that's still not much, and the developers stupidly used textures and other assets on newer heists that can exceed that limit if your texture and shadow settings are above Medium, causing the game to crash.
You could have all the memory in the world, but the game simply can't use it.

Ah, so then I need to lower the texture and shadows to "medium" and it should be good to go? No crashen then or?

That should be enough, yes; assuming you aren't running any graphical mods as well.

Now it crashed when I was accepting the Stealing Xmas heist, crashed before I even got to the setup, but those crashes feels slightly better than those where you're in the middle of a heist, though sucks if you've waited for a particular heist cause you don't want to buy it or doesn't have money to buy it.

What's the crash for accepting a contract? Can you post the log?

What log? I’m lost now and do not understand fully.

When the game crashes it produces a crash log. Reading the crash log can sometimes point you to what went wrong, and therefore how to fix it. For example, if the crash log mentions a mod, then the mod might be causing the problem.

The game never shows you a crash log automatically, you have to find it. Follow these steps to find your crash log:

https://steamcommunity.com/app/218620/discussions/14/135512931367492192/#c135512931367593582

You can then copy-paste the contents of crash.txt here in the topic so we can take a look at it and perhaps assist you with your crashing.
